I love Jaffa Cakes and to see a packet of Jaffa Balls meant I had to try them to see how they compare to regular Jaffa Cakes. Here’s what I thought of them.

Mcvities Jaffa Cake Nibbles

There are a lot of balls in the pack and each ball was about the size of a 10p coin. Although, I wouldn’t say they were perfectly round balls. They kind of had a squidge to their shape and I think that’s there they injected the filling? Either that or someone is very heavy handed picking the balls up and putting them into the bag. That aside, the balls had a sort of shine to the chocolate on the outside. Then when you bite into them, you get that sponge layer and finally the jaffa orange centre. You couldn’t really see much of the centre, but it was definitely there. These did have the taste of Jaffa Cakes, but I would have liked a lot more of the orange jelly centre. I think that would have made it more like a Jaffa Cake.

Overall these were nice and I easily finished off the bag. Do I prefer these over a box of Jaffa Cakes? No, not really. The Jaffa Cakes are a classic and I love them as they are. These were a nice alternative, especially if you are on the go. Im happy with either or. I personally wouldn’t turn these down. They were different and sometimes a change is good, but not necessarily for the better.
