I had these sat in the cupboard from Christmas last year and I completely forgot about them. It was only when I fancied something to go with my tea last night that I found them sat at the bottom of my snack cupboard. So I decided to open them up.
Mcvities Gingerbread Digestives

I was a bit skeptical about these. In my mind, just because a flavour is popular at a certain time of year, doesn’t mean it has to be put in everything. When I opened up the packet I could smell a bit of gingerbread, but there wasn’t much. I didn’t know if this was a good or a bad thing. So I took out one of the digestives and gave it a smell. There was some gingery smell but not a lot. My first biscuit was dunked into my tea. Well, it has to be done, that’s what biscuits are for! Thankfully my biscuit stayed in place and didn’t break in half and fall into my cuppa. The taste of the digestive did have a gingerbread taste to it. In actual fact, I thought there should be more ginger flavour. The chocolate on top did melt but it was nice to have that chocolate taste along with the gingerbread biscuit. So for my second biscuit I ate it straight out of the packet. I go the crunch of the biscuit and I could taste the wheatiness of the biscuit. The gingerbread flavour was still there but there was minimal flavour.
Overall, it was a nice biscuit. I wish there was more gingerbread flavour to it. Still, I managed to finish off the packet the British way. Dunking them into my tea and devouring them whole. Would I have them this year? Maybe. I wouldn’t say no to them, but maybe Christmas this year, there might be a stronger flavour or something else to tickle our festive tastebuds.
