Another festive treat that I wrapped my mouth around. I bring to you Mr Kipling Chocolate and Caramel Reindeer Slices.
Mr Kipling Chocolate and Caramel Reindeer Slices
”Chocolate & caramel flavour sponge topped with a chocolate flavoured icing and red drizzle."
These slices came in a pack of 8, all individually wrapped. This is not good. One, because of the amount of plastic, and 2, because it makes it much harder for me to get into when I know I’m going to finish them all. Let’s begin. So I peeled off the top layer of plastic to reveal the cake slice under neath. I picked out the slice and it felt lovely and moist. The sliced had chocolate icing and a Rudolph red drizzle. You could see from the slice that the cake was layered. The top half of the cake was chocolate and the bottom half was caramel… or so they tell me. I could taste the chocolate in the cake, but I did not get any hit of caramel. To me this cake was merely a chocolate sponge. The cake was meant to have a caramel filling too which is what was described on the packaging. I could see the very measly bit of filling, but again… no caramel flavour!
Although these did look nice, there was no caramel in these slices whatsoever. First of all, you can’t call a cake a Rudolph cake if there is no red nose reindeer anywhere to be seen. Secondly, if you’re going to describe something as having a caramel flavour and filling, you want to make sure it is there. I don’t know who passed this through quality control, but this just tasted like their normal chocolate fingers. Quite a bit of a let down really. What one doesn’t expect from Mr Kipling.
