OK. So the last two days I have written about Marmite Houmous and Marmite Crunchy Peanut Butter. Both I found pretty disgusting. So I wanted to tell you about how nice the original Marmite is.

Marmite Yeast Extract

Marmite. That thick, sticky, dark brown, almost black spread. It has a rich yeasty, soy-sauce-esque flavour. It’s salty, but it’s not overly salty. For me, a little goes a long way. I’m sure there’s people who would really dig into this product, and there’s those people who quite frankly can’t stand this product. I like it, but not enough to eat it by the spoonful. I like to dip the tip of my knife in and spread it over crackers, toast or crumpets, with butter of course. A great source of vitamin B too.

I have enjoyed Marmite ever since I was a young child. My late Granny used to let me eat it with crackers and butter after school. It was a lovely savoury snack. As I got older I had it on buttery toast and buttery crumpets. Just delicious. You know that saying… ’If it’s not broken, don’t fix it?’ Yeah that! I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this into other foods. Just let it stand on it’s one as a tasty, healthy product.
