Walking Around Devils Tower, part 2 - Wondrous Wyoming

Yesterday, I took you around the first part of Devils Tower. Due to the number of pictures I took, I decided to break it into three parts. Here is the continuation.

As we continued, there were more climbers to watch. I'm glad people are able to do this, but it's scary to watch, let alone even think of taking a turn! I've circled the climbers in the first picture, then cropped to see them better in the second.

In this picture, you almost can pretend there are no climbers - it's just rock...

But then, you zoom in...

More climbers circled... then zoomed in.

Before the age of modern safety equipment, people still insisted on climbing Devils Tower... We're looking at this circle, once again.

DSC_3922_ladder.JPG

This rickety wooden ladder is only a lower part of the "easy" assent method - erected in 1893. It helped 215 people get up Devils Tower until 1927. The lowest 100 feet were removed in 1930 for safety reasons. In 1972, the remaining ladder underwent restoration. Read more about this at Wikipedia.

My daughters enjoyed the walk - especially seeing all the wildlife.

Another prayer tree full of prayers (hopefully answered.)
