North Platte River along the Parkway - Wondrous Wyoming

More pictures from along the North Platte River from the other day. The river is running high due to spring snowmelt. Much of this water will be used to irrigate Nebraska farmland.

The rapids at the Tate Pumphouse are strong, wild and noisy. It reminds you just how dangerous this river is. Very strong and swift. There are signs all around reminding one to have a life jacket on if you were to venture into the water. One false move and you'd be swept away with little chance of rescue.

The view towards the main part of Casper is a beautiful one. I may have to use these pictures for some of the challenges around Hive.

We saw a pair of American robins in a mating dance of sorts, quite amazing and humorous to watch as the courtship played out. I looked for a YouTube video of this dance, but alas, I could not find it.

Walking across the large boulders to take these last couple of pictures, I happened upon a pair of crosses with plastic flowers and offered plushy toys - a reminder of the danger this river poses to any who challenge its flow.

Photos taken by myself in May 2020 with my Nikon D7200.
