On the way home from working on our garden and caring for our chicks, we stopped by the Tate Pumphouse Trail Center and looked around the trails a bit. I've been wanting some pictures along this part of the North Platte River for awhile now, and this was my chance.
The bridge that spans the North Platte is quite attractive - both to us and to the cliff swallows that build their nests underneath.
First picture is upstream (west) of the bridge.
The other two pictures are from downstream.
Here is a video about cliff swallows. These guys were all around.
I saw one of these grackles around the parking lot as well.
Then, there was this plant here - I'm looking for a good answer as to its nitrogen-fixing identity. So far, my Google Images search has failed to give me an identity to this pretty spring flower.
Facebook does have some redeeming features, even now. This beautiful flower appears to be a species of Milkvetch (Astragalus crassicarpus.)
I had too many pictures for one post, so have saved the majority for another... to come.
