A Spring Walk by the North Platte - Wondrous Wyoming

It was nice to get out to Edness Kimball Wilkins State park yesterday. I was keeping my eyes open for mushrooms, but it was nice simply to get out.

This park is a local favorite and lets you get up close and personal with the North Platte River.

I don't know what this fence is for, but it adds a nice touch of humanity to this photo. The clouds looked ominous, but didn't do a whole lot other than a few drops of rain.

Another shot with the medium-tension wires crossing the river - just to remind you that you're not quite in the wilderness yet.

The cottonwoods are awakening. Some people will be complaining soon because these trees cause a lot of allergies. I love watching the cotton fly from the trees... makes me wistful. It was one of the first things I encountered the first time I lived in the Rockies many years ago, and I still love watching it as much now as I did then.

Local wildlife is also fun to watch.

We saw one of these guys... a brown thrasher.

Then, there was this little guy - he looks lost! Unfortunately, it wouldn't have been safe to attempt a rescue.

This beautiful iron-rich rock that we have so much of in Wyoming. Isn't it just beautiful?

I hope you enjoyed your walk with us - we did.
