Hello Everyone,

I do love a Bakewell as many of my followers will know. I couldn't quite remember if I have had these before or not. I just had to get some in as I really do like lemon. It's one of my favourite fruit flavours when it comes to sweet cakes and treats. Here's my thoughts on them.

Mr Kipling Easter Lemon Bakewells

"Pastry Cases Filled with Lemon Flavour Curd and Lemon Flavoured Sponge, Topped with a Lemon Flavour Icing and Gold and White Sugar Pieces."

Well I have to say, these smelt delicious from the start. As soon as I opened the box and wrapper, the smell of sweet lemon just hit me in the face. These smelled so good and I was hoping they were going to taste as good as they smelt. I took out the first Bakewell. I nibbled the edges off the pastry and then took a bite. The pastry was good, just the same as the Cherry Bakewells that are probably Mr Kiplings most popular tart. The lemon icing was so soft and it was a good thickness. Then you had the lemon curd and sponge. Wow! This whole Bakewell just oozed lemon. It was sweet and tart but not sharp. It was nice to see the gold and white sugar pieces on top, but I think a mini slice of sugared / caramelised lemon would set this right off, or just some sort of lemon decoration. Some of the sugar pieces did fall off and I even found some the next day on my sofa. I don't think there was any need for more sugar, but still. This was delightful.

I think I would have remembered having something so delicious. I really hope these stay around for a long time and nit just for the Easter period, (even though it's no where near Easter yet!") I'm definitely going to get some more in. At least another two boxes. I could sit and eat these all day long! Just sooooooooo good! Well done Mr Kipling!!
