Nando's Fino Pitta

Cheeky Nando's Anyone?

I happened to go to Nando's yesterday as I really wanted to try their Fino Pitta. I saw it advertised saying it was coming back, but I never even knew it existed in the first place. I didn't know how long this was going to be around for, so I made sure I got in there sooner than later.

Nando's Fino Pitta

"Indulge in a toasted pitta filled with two flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken thighs, grilled halloumi cheese, caramelised red onion relish and wild garlic aioli, topped with lettuce."

I decided to go for the lemon and herb flavour on my chicken. I don't do heat and I really like the taste of lemon and herb, so that's exactly what I went for. When the Fino Pitta arrived, at first glance I thought it looked small. I thought this was never going to fill me up. However, it was a different story when I started to dig into it. The pitta was soft and not tough and hard as I was expecting. I have had Nando's bread before and I thought it was going to be like that, but thankfully it wasn't. When I took the pitta in my hands it actually filled my hands up. It was definitely bigger than expected now. The chicken thighs on the inside were juicy and tender and they were covered in the tasty lemon and herb marinade. The caramelised red onion relish was sweet and I was glad the onion wasn't cut too thin. It was just right. It was lovely and sweet. It went really well with the grilled hallumi. Now, with the hallumi, at first I thought they hadn't put it in. I looked all under the bread and chicken thighs. I couldn't see it. After a few more mouthfuls I realised it was in there but right at the bottom of the pitta. I think knowing this, next time I will be hunting for it and rearranging my pitta if need be. I really enjoyed the lettuce and garlic aioli too. I wish there was a bit more lettuce actually. The aoili was very tasty. I didn't get much garlic flavour. It just tasted like a seasoned mayonnaise dressing. I would have liked it to taste a bit more garlicky. It did stain my fingers though. Even after washing my hands a couple of times, I could still smell the sauce on my fingers and thumbs!

I hope this is forever on the menu. I loved it. I wouldn't want it every time, but I would like the option to have it. Please don't take this off the menu anytime soon, Nando's!
