M&S 4 Tex Mex Dip Selection

Afternoon Food Friends,

Recently I have been enjoying sitting down in front of my TV on a Sunday afternoon catching up on one of my favourite TV reality shows Catfish. It's very hard to sit there and not snack and I had some left over dips from one of my previous meals. I decided to finish it off with some tortilla chips. Last weekend I couldn't get the dips I had last time, so as I was already shopping in M&S I found they had their own version. So I picked that one up and had it last Sunday.

M&S 4 Tex Mex Dip Selection

"A selection of four dips including a chunky avocado dip, a mild tomato salsa dip, a nacho cheese dip and a dip made with soured cream, mayonnaise and chives. A great accompaniment to a Mexican meal. Four dips per pack."

I sat there with the dips and tortilla chips open and ready to go. I tried the soured cream first of all. This was thick and had nice chunks of chive in it to give that hint of onion taste. I wish there was more chive as I do like more of an oniony flavour. The sour cream was just the right amount of sourness. I don't like it when it is too creamy or too sour as it tastes either too rich or like it has gone off. The next one I tried was the guacamole. Nice chunks of avocado and it was quite zesty with the lime. I really enjoyed the zing it gave. Next was the nacho cheese. Now this one I struggled to get any cheese or chilli flavour. I could see red bits in it but there wasn't any heat and it tasted pretty sweet. Then I thought to myself "This must be red pepper dip and not nacho cheese." Finally was the salsa. That was sweet too. It was quite watery too. The chunks were nice but it didn't matter how much you stirred the salsa, it created a pool of juice at the bottom. Not the best salsa I've had.

This wasn't the best Tex Mex dip selection. It was ok in places. The best was by far the guacamole. The salsa was the worst salsa I had ever tastes. However after dipping into the nacho cheese a few times, I realised there were bits of grated cheese in there and at one pint I got a bit of heat. I don't like much heat at all, but this nacho cheese was so bland and not at all cheesy. The sour cream was OK too but again I've had better. I was expecting much more from M&S considering they usually produce great tasting food and products. Not a fan of this at all.
