Hello music lovers! 🎵🎧🎤🎵
Is there any new music around? If you don't have anything, you can listen to #newtunes here and check out the cocktail of songs and tunes that's been surrounding me this week and ringing in my ears.
It's not free, of course. A few minutes of your time will cost you.
I'm getting really tired of all the Christmas carols coming out of every nook and cranny of the media and how, oh and all, everything will be fine again after the New Year.
Bullshit. It will be the same as now. Nothing will change.
No matter what, we move on. I forgot this: if you don't like something, feel free to skip it :) 😁 👾 🍻
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Neu Butterfly 3000 (Peaches Remix)
My favorite Australian band is back in action. They are really amazing, this is the fifth album this year. Here will be covers and remixes of all the songs from the album 'Butterfly 3000' (released in June 2021), and it's called Butterfly 3001. :)
So far they have released two songs, and you can listen to this one, Neu Butterfly 3000 (Peaches Remix) here. Of course, I recommend it.
Jack Harlon & The Dead Crows - The Magnetic Ridge
A new name for me. Australians again. This band from Melbourne was founded in 2015 and is led by Tim Coutts-Smith or his alter ego Jack Harlon. 'The Magnetic Ridge' is their second studio album, released in May this year. Exquisite psychedelic/stoner rock with a metal and blues vibe, bordering on stoner melancholy and fuzz at one moment, and sharp metallic sawing at another. If they keep it up, we'll hear more from them.
Vasil Hadžimanov Band - Kaži Gradiška HQ
Vasil Hadzimanov, Serbian composer, arranger, and an educator, educated at Berklee College of Music, is a follower of modern streams, progressive sound, and fusion of different types of music, that he is successfully merging into, what we now could call, World music. (from vhband.comcom/about-vasil/). He is a new name for me, although I follow the regional scene closely and I'm very happy to listen to him because his music takes me back to the 80s jazz-rock (Ataraxia?). I recommend it.
IAN SWEET - f*ckthat
Jilian Medford, aka Ian Sweet, comes from Los Angeles and promotes her third album 'Show Me How You Disappear'. Where would one put it? Somewhere in dream-pop or indie-pop, say. And in all of them, he's mostly having fun with his own heart problems. Why is she here? What do I know, I heard it on the radio while driving and it still lingers in my head. Obviously, there's something in it :) 😎
Špurijus - Model 95
Špurijus, the rock band from Split, Croatia, presents the second album 'Išijaš'. Model 95 is an energizing song with a fast rhythm, a typical punk rock theme in which the band managed to squeeze four lines of lyrics and a couple of choruses, and, of course, a guitar solo into less than two minutes.
If it weren't for the retro footage of a dial-up modem connection to the internet the song would be even shorter, ha, ha.
The song is about a middle-aged member of the alternative scene who is stuck in time, unaware of the changes that have taken place in society, and still thinks he is living in the 1990s.
Ugh ... as if I were talking about myself :) 😁
GNOD – Pink Champagne Blues
GNOD is a band, or perhaps better said a noisy collective from the Manchester, GB area, who after a few years have managed to put together and release a new album again, entitled 'La Mort Du Sens'. This particular track is a wistful, guitar-screeching, rhythmic, and fast-paced punkoid skater rhapsody that holds you and doesn't let go until the end. Neo-punk if you want to sort...
No Borders Song
The song 'No Borders Song' was created as part of the international Erasmus project 'Long Live All Nations', which addresses the issue of migrants. 16 young musicians from Slovenia and Croatia took part in this project. And among other things, a very nice song was created, which was premiered on 3rd December, the birthday of the greatest Slovenian poet, France Prešeren.
Monsieur Doumani - Pissoúrin
Few bands I know have won as many awards and accolades in such a short time as this trio from Cyprus.
Active since 2011, they were nominated Best New Band 2014 in the UK monthly Songlines, Best New Band 2016 in the same magazine, and #1 in the Transglobal World Music Chart in 2019.
This year's album 'Pissourin' is their fifth in a row and immediately put them at
the top of the World Music Charts Europe and Balkan World Music Chart. They are an atypical neo-folk band combining tradition with modernity, and a lot of Mediterranean influence, as well as brass. Don't miss them if they're around this summer.
