New Tunes, 5.11.2021

Hello music lovers! 🎡🎧 🎀🎡

Lots of new music is on offer for all who want to listen. From the stars who cleverly seize every moment and use their media machine to promote their every move, even if they don't really present anything new, to the newcomers who want the throne and are looking for every possible niche to promote their #newtunes to an acoustically thirsty audience.

That's also the case in this post. Stars and rising sparks trying to secure a place under the musical sun, even to resonate in my ears. This week, even some have succeeded. And that is what I am posting here.
Of course, if any of this doesn't appeal to you, feel free to skip without obligation. 😁

U2 - Your Song Saved My Life

After pleasing fans with the creation of their official TikTok profile, they have released a new song for the first time since the summer of 2019 as part of the official soundtrack of the animated movie 'Sing 2', which will be released on the big screen in December. I don't think the globally popular band U2 needs any introduction.

🎡🎧 🎀

Cypress Hill - Open Ya Mind

Hip hop legends Cypress Hill, have released the single 'Open Ya Mind' announcing a new studio album planned for next year. The excellent old-school rap draws the distinctive sound of Cypress and deals with the confusing ambiguous American stance on cannabis legalization.

🎡🎧 🎀

Radiohead - Follow Me Around

Radiohead has been quite active in recent months. These days they released the video for Follow Me Around, the band's big hit from 1998. They plan to re-release the cult albums 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' as a single album under the name 'Kid A Mnesia'. In the video, we see actor Guy Pearce fleeing in panic while being filmed by a camera. Basically, they try in every way to stay current.

🎡🎧 🎀

Limp Bizkit - Out Of Style

American rap-rock veterans Limp Bizkit released a new studio album on the world-famous Halloween.
The new album is called 'Still Sucks' and is also the first album after 10 years and the 'Gold Cobra' album. All the songs look fresh and polished (no wonder, they’ve had a whole decade of time ...) but they don’t deviate significantly from their usual style.

🎡🎧 🎀

The Diabolical Liberties - Mostly Indoors

New for me. The British duo The Diabolical Liberties, with elements of post-punk indigenous to England and the rich culture of the Afro-Caribbean immigrants there, build a heterogeneous, harmonious, and above all funky musical mosaic of English society. Ugh.

🎡🎧 🎀

Mdou Moctar - Afrique Victime

Desert blues is, I think, the last guitar genre to be officially defined. I like it, I've mainly listened to Tinariwen, but the guitarist Mdau Moctar is not far behind. Saharan music, infused with psychedelia, jazz, and rock & roll. The genre fusion gives the feeling that the songs will never stop. Afrique Victime is the sixth album by the insightful Tuareg guitarist and the song is a dirge, reminding us of crimes that should never have happened. Highly recommended.

🎡🎧 🎀

Taraka - Welcome To Paradise Lost

A new name for me. New York-based musician Taraka Larson was previously in Prince Rama, but after the break-up, she went her own way. Her debut album 'Welcome To Paradise Lost' as well as the song of the same name is an interesting mix of the lo-fi sound of distorted guitars, unusual synth-jazz interludes, and layered vocals. New Waveesque, psychedelic pop-punk, I personally find it most reminiscent (at times, of course) of the first recordings of the UK's XTC. Recommended.

🎡🎧 🎀

Blackoutt - Heroin Shower

This song is a preview of Slovenian instrumental grunge/stoner/punk band Blackoutt new album 'Madman'. I have been following this group and its development since the beginning because I personally know some of the members. I have already featured some of their songs in my #newtunes posts in the last few years. The last one was Abortion.
Well, this song is something else entirely. Very different from anything Blackoutt has done before and even the first to be backed by Sophie Burton's vocals and poetry. Recommended. Worth listening to and worth watching.
