Heute wird in Österreich gewählt. Ich habe mich für diese Kandidaten entschieden.
When you think of classical jazz, the instruments that spring to mind are the piano, the bass, the drums and perhaps the saxophone. If the occasion arises, there might also be someone who takes to the vocal microphone and adds his or her voice to the ensemble. We can say goodbye to all these ideas in today's Jazz-Matinee. This Sunday there will be only one instrument in use, and that is the voice. And there are five of them (sometimes even more).
Wer an den klassischen Jazz denkt, dem fallen spontan Instrumente wie das Piano, der Bass, das Schlagzeug und vielleicht noch das Saxofon ein. Wenn es sich ergibt, darf auch noch jemand an das Gesangsmikrofon und seine Stimme dem Ensemble beisteuern. Von all diesen Gedanken können wir uns bei der heutigen Jazz-Matinee verabschieden. Am heutigen Sonntag kommt ausschließlich ein Instrument zum Einsatz – die Stimme. Und zwar in fünffacher Ausführung (manchmal sogar noch mehr).
The vocal ensemble "Gesangskapelle Hermann" consists of Simon Gramberger (1st tenor), Simon Scharinger (1st tenor), Stephan Wohlmuth (2nd tenor), Joachim Rigler (1st bass), Robert Pockfuß (1st bass) and Bernhard Höchtel (2nd bass). The name of the group is due to the fact that they always meet for rehearsals in the Hermannsgasse in Vienna. The Austrian a cappella band has now released their 5th studio album. The name: 'Sehr Sogar'.
Die Gesangskapelle Hermann setzen sich zusammen aus: Simon Gramberger (1. Tenor), Simon Scharinger (1. Tenor), Stephan Wohlmuth (2. Tenor), Joachim Rigler (1. Bass), Robert Pockfuß (1. Bass) und Bernhard Höchtel (2. Bass). Die Namensgebung der Formation ist der Tatsache geschuldet, dass man sich zur Probe stets in der Wiener Hermannsgasse trifft. Jetzt hat die österreichische A-capella Band ihr 5. Studioalbum veröffentlicht. Der Name: »Sehr Sogar«
The reaction of the music critics seems to me to be rather unemotional and almost monosyllabic. That's why I had the idea of inviting the boys to perform on the matinee stage, so that they could attract a little more attention outside the Alpine republic. However, I don't want to deny the critics their opinion: 'Interesting and humorous songs, arranged and sung for five very good voices. An album that will never allow you to get bored, full of good and cheerful music'.
Da mir die Reaktion der Musikkritiker doch ziemlich emotionslos und beinahe schon einsilbig daherkommt, kam mir die Idee, die Jungs auf die Matinee-Bühne einzuladen, damit sie auch außerhalb der Alpenrepublik etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit erfahren. Die Meinung der Kritik will ich dennoch nicht vorenthalten: „Interessante und humorvolle Lieder, arrangiert und gesungen für fünf sehr gute Stimmen. Ein Album, das keine Langeweile aufkommen lässt, voller guter und fröhlicher Musik.“
Incidentally, they met for the first time in 2008 to put into music what they themselves have formulated as follows: “To create pure joie de vivre and in this way to invite people to live in the moment and to celebrate the beautiful things in life. It should be a source of encouragement for people and help them to forget the worries of everyday life, at least for a while.” I am convinced that the boys from the capital of the state will be able to do just that.
2008 traf man sich übrigens erstmals, um das musikalisch umzusetzen, was sie selbst so formulieren: „Pure Lebensfreude zu kreieren und damit einladen, den Moment zu leben und die schönen Dinge des Lebens zu feiern. Es soll Mut machen und helfen, die Sorgen des Alltags zumindest für eine Weile zu vergessen.“ Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass den Jungs aus der Landeshauptstadt dies prima gelingt.
Looking back on the work of the “Gesangskapelle Hermann” so far, their repertoire includes everything from traditional folk songs to modern pieces and their own compositions. This is presented not only on the big stages of music palaces and at festivals at home and abroad, but also in pubs and in intimate, small halls in the 'provinces'. And there has been no shortage of awards for the extraordinary musical work of these musicians. The Austrian World Music Award, a place in Falter's 'Best of Vienna' ranking and the 'Goldene Wiener Herz' (Golden Heart of Vienna) for special services to Viennese culture. They have also won the Austrian Cabaret Award.
Zurückblickend auf das bisherige Schaffen von der Gesangskapelle Hermann hält deren Repertoire von traditionellen Volksliedern über moderne Stücke bis hin zu eigenen Kompositionen alles parat. Präsentiert wird dies nicht ausschließlich auf den großen Bühnen der Musikpaläste und Festivals im In- und Ausland, sondern auch in Kneipen und intimen, kleinen Sälen in der „Provinz“. An Auszeichnungen für ihr außergewöhnliches musikalische Schaffen mangelt es auch nicht. Der »Austrian World Music Award«, eine Platzierung im Falter »Best of Vienna«-Ranking und das »Goldene Wiener Herz« für besondere Verdienste um die Wiener Kultur. Auch der Österreichische Kabarettpreis zählt zu ihren Ehrungen.
Before 'Sehr Sogar', they released 'Alles Tango', 'Ohne Panier', 'Elegant' and 'mei goaddnzweag & i'. In between, they also released a live album, on which their greatest hits were given a bit more musical pomp and circumstance: 'Live feat. PlayBigBand'. Finally, I'll let the critics have their say: „The new album 'Sehr Sogar' is as colourful, silly, loving and cool as the vocal group itself, sometimes hip-hop, sometimes pop, sometimes big pop, sometimes shrill, then again very modest, unbelievably diverse and yet all of a piece.“
Vor dem Album »Sehr Sogar« erschienen auch noch »Alles Tango«, »Ohne Panier«, »Elegant« und »mei goaddnzweag & i«. Dazwischen schoben sie noch ein Live Album, auf dem die größten Erfolge mit ein wenig mehr musikalischem Pomp bestückt wurden: »Live feat. PlayBigBand«. Zum Abschluss lasse ich dann noch einmal die Kritik zu Wort kommen: „Das neue Album „Sehr Sogar“ kommt so bunt, goschert, liebevoll und cool daher wie die Vokalgruppe selbst, ist mal Hip-Hop, mal Schlager, mal großer Pop, mal schrill, dann wieder ganz bescheiden, unglaublich vielfältig und doch wie aus einem Guss.“
