Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum was born on 22 October 1952 in West Homestead, Pennsylvania (USA). Better known as Jeff Goldblum and from the big screen. We remember films like "The Big Chill", "Independence Day" and "Jurassic Park", among others. What is less known, however, is that he is also a sophisticated jazz pianist who has already released his debut album, "The Capitol Studio Sessions", in 2018.

Wir erinnern uns unter anderem an Filme wie „The Big Chill”, „Independence Day“ und „Jurassic Park“. Was jedoch viel weniger bekannt ist, dass er gleichzeitig auch ein anspruchsvoller Jazz-Pianist ist, der bereits 2018 mit „The Capitol Studio Sessions“ sein Debütalbum veröffentlichte.
The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, also known as Goldblum's ensemble, has been with him on the jazz stage from the very beginning. Raised in a Jewish family with Austrian roots, Goldblum's initial interest was in acting. From Broadway in New York, he made the leap from the stage to the studios of Los Angeles.
Von Anfang an mit ihm auf der Jazz-Bühne, das Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, welches man auch als Goldblums Ensemble bezeichnen kann. Aufgewachsen in einer jüdischen Familie mit österreichischen Wurzeln, galt anfänglich sein ganzes Interesse der Schauspielerei. Vom New Yorker Broadway gelang ihm der Sprung von der Bühne in die Studios von Los Angeles.
However, having been trained on the piano at a very young age, this passion has never been forgotten. In the 90s he met the producer and musician John Mastro. Together they began to think about forming their own band. Finding the members of the new formation was not the hardest part. It was rather the fact that they could not agree on a suitable or melodic name.
Da jedoch in frühester Jugend bereits am Klavier ausgebildet, geriet diese Leidenschaft nie in Vergessenheit. In den 90er-Jahren kam er mit dem Produzenten und Musiker John Mastro zusammen. Gemeinsam wuchs die Idee, eine eigene Band zu gründen. Die Mitglieder der neuen Formation zu finden, war nicht das Schwierigste an der Sache. Vielmehr konnte man sich nicht auf einen passenden oder wohlklingenden Namen einigen.
Eventually, they found a name through a survey of the neighbourhood and their circle of acquaintances, and simply by the adaptation of a name. Since 2014, they have been performing week after week at the Carlyle Hotel in New York and at irregular intervals in Los Angeles. Their first studio album was released on Decca Records. The Capitol Studio Sessions immediately debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.
Den fand man letztlich, indem sie sich in der Nachbarschaft und im Bekanntenkreis umschauten und ganz schlicht und einfach einen Namen adaptierten. Seit 2014 treten sie Woche für Woche im New Yorker Hotel Carlyle und in unregelmäßigen Abständen in Los Angeles auf die Bühne. Das erste Studioalbum erschien bei Decca Records. The Capitol Studio Sessions landete prompt auf Platz 1 der Billboard Jazz-Album-Charts.
Trumpeter Till Brönner and singers Imelda May, Haley Reinhart and Sarah Silverman joined Jeff Goldblum on the production.
Just a year later, the album I Shouldn't Be Telling You This came out, with contributions from Fiona Apple, Sharon Etten and Anna Calvi.
Bei der Produktion erhielt Jeff Goldblum Unterstützung vom Trompeter Till Brönner und den Sängerinnen Imelda May, Haley Reinhart und Sarah Silverman.
Nur ein Jahr später erschien dann das Album I Shouldn't Be Telling You This, auf dem unter anderem auch Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten und Anna Calvi mit von der Partie sind.
