What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
502 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #176, I am 326 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
January 2025 we are expecting Astra Militarum and Aeldari codexes as explained Here, so time to focus on THOSE Datasheets!
Astra Militarum, Regimental Attachés
10th Edition Index
So you can get 20 man Platoon units with 2x Sergeants in the Astra Militarum army... they can then be led by a 5 man Command Squad, which includes a 3 Wound character.
That Command Squad can be joined by an additional 3 people so a 28 man unit is quite possible!
These units either boost other units in your army or can keep enemy Deep Strike further away
They cost 40pts to field and there is no kit on sale at GW for them.
It is speculative why. Perhaps they are getting new models or perhaps they will take them out of the Astra Militarum Codex completely.
This unit is made up of three miniatures:
- Master of Ordnance
- Astropath
- Officer of the Fleet
So... an extra 3 models. What do they do for 40pts?
Stats
Movement 6"
Toughness 3
Save 5+ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 1
Ld 7+
OC 1
Weapons
All three have Laspistols. The Astropath has a special Staff in Close Combat and the other two have basic Close Combat Weapons.
Ranged Weapons
Laspistol
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (This weapon can be shot while in engagement range of enemy models)
Melee Weapons
Close combat Weapon
1 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Astropath’s stave
1 Attack, Hitting on 4+. S6, AP-1 and D3 Damage each.
Psychic (This weapon has the Psychic keyword)
Abilities
Aeronautica Commander
At the start of the Shooting phase, select an enemy unit within 30" of the Officer of the Fleet. Aircraft models get +1 to Hit that enemy unit.
Artillery Commander
At the start of the Shooting phase, select an enemy unit within 30" of the Master of Ordnance. Artillery unit's Blast Weapons get Sustained Hits 1 against that unit.
Astropath
Enemy units attempting to set up from Reserves cannot do so within 12" of the Astropath model.
Thoughts
Keeping the enemy Deepstrikes and Reserves further away is great!
Aircraft is niche...
But Artillery with Sustained Hits 1 could work!
So... for 40pts I think that would be pretty decent if you put enough Artillery in your army!
That makes 19 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 21.34% Completed. The total Completed is 16.80% Complete! Can I review them all?!
