Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.
So let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
Adeptus Mechanicus, Serberys Sulphurhounds
10th Edition Codex
I rolled separately for this and landed right next to the other Serberys units! Wow! The chances of that happening in over 900 datasheets!
The Sulphurhounds play very differently from the Raiders. While the Raiders are built for speed, scout movement and reactive moves, the Sulphurhouds exist to deal some damage where it is needed!
A unit of 3 cost you 55pts of a unit of 6 cost 110pts.
Let's check those stats!
Stats
They are exactly the same as the Raiders!
Movement 12"
Toughness 4
Save 4+/5+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 2
Ld 7+
OC 2
Weapons
What Changes here are the guns!
All the horses have a Sulphur breath, the leader has a Mechanicus pistol, one in three models can have a Phosphor blast carbine and the remaining man in a 3 man unit has two Phosphor pistols! Pretty awesome!
Ranged:
Sulphur breath - A 9" Range, D6 Shots, Torrent, S3 AP-1 D1 - With Ignores Cover, Pistol (so they can flame in combat)
Mechanicus pistol - A 12" Range, 1 Shot, 4+ to Hit, S6 AP-1 D1 - With Devastating Wounds and Pistol (so you can Sulphur Breath and use this pistol at the same time!)
Phosphor pistol - A 12" Range, 1 Shot, 4+ to Hit, S4 AP0 D1 - Ignores Cover and Pistol (so you can Sulphur Breath and use these pistols at the same time!)
Phosphor blast carbine - A 18" Range, D6 Shots, 4+ to Hit, S6 AP0 D1 - Ignores Cover and Blast (The guy with the carbine also has a single Phosphor pistol)
Melee:
Clawed limbs
4 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage
The leader also has:
Cavalry arc maul
1 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S5, AP-1 and 1 Damage - Extra Attacks, Anti-Vehicle 4+ and Devastating Wounds.
Abilities
Line-breakers
Roll a 4+ for each model in this unit and select an enemy unit they just charged and deal a Mortal Wound to that unit. Add 2 to that roll if they started their charge move within 6" of Adeptus Mechanicus Battleline units.
Thoughts
These Sulphurhounds are meant to be a bit more on the close combat side... but really, their main ability lies in their number of anti-light infantry shooting that they continue to use inside of Engagement.
The Arc Maul and Linebreaker may help deal some Mortal/Devastating wounds against tougher targets.
They are not bad and are still OC2 which is good for capturing objectives!
Thank you for reading!
