Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.
So let me spin the wheel and see what I get:
Tyranids - Screamer Killer
10th Edition Tyranids Codex
Right! The Screamer-Killer! This is basically the re-imagined OG Carnifex that has been brought back and given its own model and datasheet. And of course this is a model that @merenludick actually owns so it is something that I am rather familiar with.
I feel that at 145pts, the Screamer Killer is definitely worth its points. It is too dangerous to ignore and takes a fair bit of anti-monster shooting to bring down. For the sheer terror factor that the Screamer Killer imposes on the battlefield, it is well worth it!
So let's look at stats!
Statline
A 8" Move is quite fast. It is the speed of Walkers at the moment. Toughness 9 with 10 Wounds, a 2+ Armor save makes him akin to a medium tank.
Weapons
The Screamer actually has a Ranged attack - Its Bio-Plamic Scream!
This weapon has the Assault keyword which means that the Screamer can make an Advance move and shoot it. So Move 8+D6" and then a 18" Range. The following turn you are likely going to be in combat range.
It has the Blast Keyword which means it gets an additional shot per 5 units in the target unit rounding down. It gets D6+3 shots which means it is useful against any sort of target.
S8 Ap-2 and 1 Damage each. It is a formidable gun. It only hits on 4+ and when stuck in combat it will only hit on a 5+ and he can only shoot something other than infantry in combat with him.
But you are NOT safe if you are in close combat with this beastie!
Screamer-Killer talons
10 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S10, Ap-2 and 3 Damage a piece!
He is a Terminator Killer and can wipe out squads of Space Marines even easier!
With this profile he can also dismember most medium tanks in a single combat round.
Abilities
Death Scream
The Screamer's ability has to do with his scream - select one target unit that he hits and that unit is forced to take a Battle-shock test at -1. This can be useful when you need to prevent the enemy from scoring or to stop a unit from using Stratagems.
An awesome unit.
Thank you for reading this post! I hope that you enjoyed it!
