Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
422 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #112, I am 310 reviews behind!
Not picking randomly at the moment, need to finish Imperial Agents and Deathwatch before they change as explained Here
Deathwatch, Deathwatch Terminator Squad
10th Edition Index
Deathwatch Terminator squad have an advantage over other Terminator units with the amount of Heavy Weapons they can field. So it is not a question of option, if you wanted lots of Heavy Weapons you would choose this squad!
This unit is also really likely to get... ahem discontinued in the new Imperial Agents Codex I feel.
Usually Terminators can have 1 Heavy Weapon per 5. So a 10 man unit could have 2 Heavies. This unit can take 3 Heavy Weapons in either 5 or 10 man... so I would rather field 2 units of 5 than 1 unit of 10.
Stats
Movement 5"
Toughness 5
Save 2+/4++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 3
Ld 6+
OC 1
Weapons
The whole squad starts with Power Fist and Storm Bolter. As mentioned 3 can have heavy weapons.
The remainder can change for: Power Weapon and Storm Bolter, Chainfist and Storm Bolter, Twin Lighting Claws or Thunderhammer and Stormshield.
Like the Deathwing Terminator Squad they can use Plasma Cannons.
Ranged:
Storm Bolter
Range 24", 2 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S4, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Rapid Fire 2 (So 4 Attacks at 12")
Assault Cannon
Range 24", 6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S6, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Devastating Wounds (6's to Wound bypass saves and cause Mortal Wounds)
Heavy Flamer
Range 12", D6 Attacks, Torrent, S5, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Torrent (Hits Automatically with the number of attacks rolled), Ignores Cover
Two firing options for the Cyclones, krak missile or frag missile:
Cyclone Missile Launcher - krak missile
Range 48", 2 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S9, Ap -2, D6 Damage each
Cyclone Missile Launcher - frag missile
Range 48", 2D6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S4, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Blast (Extra 1 attack per 5 models in enemy unit rounding down)
Two firing option for Plasma Cannon, regular and overcharge:
Plasma Cannon Standard
Range 36", D6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S7, Ap -2, 1 Damage each

Plasma Cannon Overcharge
Range 36", D6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S8, Ap -3, 1 Damage each

Melee:

Power Fist
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S8, Ap -2, 2 Damage each
Chainfist
3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S8, Ap -2, 2 Damage each
Anti-Vehicle 3+(Critically Wounds Vehicles on a 3+)
Twin Lightning Claws
5 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, Ap -2, 1 Damage each
Twin Linked (Re-Roll Wound Rolls)
Thunder Hammer
3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S8, Ap -2, 2 Damage each
Devastating Wounds (6's to Wound bypass saves and cause Mortal Wounds)
Abilities
Teleport Homer
Like every other Terminator unit... But I would field them on their feet from the Deployment Zone.
At the start of the game, put down a Teleport Homer anywhere that is not inside your opponent's deployment zone.
You can, once per game, target this unit with the Rapid Ingress Stratagem for 0CP and deploy within 3" of the Teleport Homer and outside 9" of an enemy unit.
Terminatus Assault
More unique to the Deathwatch. After they complete a Charge, every enemy unit within engagement range of this unit must take a Battle Shock test. Good at attempting to take away control of an objective without even killing anyone!
Wargear Abilities
Storm Shield
The Bearer gets +1 Wound.
Thoughts
To me... I love this unit. I will build one for my Grand Imperial Army if it gets these rules passed into Legends Datasheets.
There is only really one way that I would field this unit:
3x Cyclone Missile Launchers, Storm Bolters and Power Fists
2x Thunder Hammer and Stormshields.
They would lay out punishing firepower while holding key objectives and if you get too close, they can still deal plenty damage.
Should they take damage, the Stormshields can absorb the first damage and keep the Cyclones up and running!
That makes 5 Deathwatch Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 45.45% Completed! The total Completed is 11.53% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
