The operation to neutralize the Chinese balloon included:
• 5th generation F-22 Raptor fighters (one of them hit the balloon with an AIM-9X missile),
• F-15 fighter-bombers,
• Coast Guard helicopter MH-60,
• US Navy auxiliary ship USS Carter Hall,
• E-2A Hawkeye early warning and control aircraft,
• Nuclear aircraft carrier
• Air command post (doomsday aircraft) E-4B Nightwatch,
• KC-135 Stratotanker refueling plane,
• Potentially other ships and aircraft.
For several hours, the airspace above parts of the two countries was closed, the operation of three airports was suspended.
