How it going? Still in lockdown? Not here. I've been very busy last week so I skipped the previous #beersaturday. Of course, I poured myself with a beer but there was no time to write.
But it's now.
Again two new beers, from a local brewery, Maister Brewery, Kamnik, Slovenia.
All their beers are named after famous Slovenians from history. I've tried one before, Vega, pale ale.
Noordung, interstellar porter
What, or who the Noordung was?
Noordung is a pseudonym for Herman Potočnik, a Slovene rocket engineer and pioneer of astronautic and space travel. He is best known for his book The Problem of Space Travel: Rocket Motor, from 1928, from which was read by all who were later engaged in the construction of spacecraft. In short, the guy is a pure legend, after him, he is also named Center of Space Technologies, Vitanje, Slovenia.

So let me get back to the beer. It's dark brown, almost black color, without foam, which is very rare with beer, I think. The 0.33 l bottle says that it's Interstellar Porter, alcohol is 6.0% ABV.
The first sip is very aromatic, the taste of caramel and chocolate, not intrusive, with the sweetness of malt and tropical fruits, which slowly disappear after the last sip. I'm not a fan of dark beers, but I was really excited about it. It’s not for average drinking, it’s more for sipping than some liqueur. I was just surprised, in a positive way, of course. The only downside is, haha, a small bottle. Such a drink could be filled into liter bottles 😎
Rusjan IPA
We are already in the next one.
Rusjan, Edvard was a Slovenian pioneer of aviation and aircraft designer. He died in 1911 in Belgrade in a plane crash. In the background of the photo, is a replica of its own constructed airplane Eda V.
The beer is a cloudy dark yellow color with a large and long-lasting foam. The pronounced bitterness of various hops in the first sip and the aromas of tropical fruits is dominated by grapefruit, which lasts in the mouth for a long time after the last sip. Small bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.0% ABV. Very good, classic IPA I would say.
Both beers are great, more for gourmets than average beer drinkers. It makes sense to keep them in the fridge.
