Beer Tasting: San Servolo IPA And La Trappe Quadrupel

Hello, beer tasters! 🍻 😎 🍻

I'm still in my favorite place to rest, the heat does not subside, there are more and more tourists who want the sun and the sea, and for me, this heat is already a bit overwhelming. But I don't give up. I still insist, protected of course with proper shade and a cold beer.
I even convinced my wife to taste chilled beer with me in this heat. Unbelievable!

We have two beers on our table, chilled as befits, waiting for us to empty them.

San Servolo IPA

Brewed by Bujska Pivovara, Buje, Croatia. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol varies, from 6% up to 6.5% because it is fermented in the bottle.

As I remember this brewery was once (in ex Yugoslavia) owned by the biggest Slovenian brewery Union. Now in these strange days, the Heineken is the owner of almost all Slovenian and Croatian breweries... anyway, this brewery was known for the legendary bad beer I always avoided.
Well, since I saw that they brewed IPA (and it's not even that cheap) I said to myself, come on, I'll give them another chance to try this miracle again :)

The beer is dull orange in color, unfiltered, fermented in the bottle. The foam is thick and solid. Already in the first sip, the distinct bitterness of IPA and the aroma of tropical fruit can be felt. The bitterness of the hops remains in the mouth for some time.

Just a solid IPA. It's not exactly a surplus, but it's OK. It gives me hope that there will be something more from this brewery.

La Trappe Quadrupel

Brewed by Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven - La Trappe Trappist, Berkel-Enschot, Netherlands. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 10% ABV.
Quadrupel is a complex and strong Belgian ale-type beer, with pronounced fruit aromas and spices.

The beer is light brown in color, there is little foam but it is stable. Immediately in the first sip, the sweetness of the malt is felt with pronounced flavors of banana and caramel and strong spices and lasts until the end of the sip. Bitterness is discreet in the background.
Juicy, strong, and sweeter than bitter beer. More suitable for winter than for the summer season. But what can I do, I have it here and it went smoothly through my throat :)

Both beers are good but have completely different tastes. I feel like I made a mistake - I should probably have tried LaTrappe sooner because after bitter IPA it seemed very sweet to me, like some juice. But it’s not like that, it’s still a beer with its bitterness.
