Two bottles of beer are waiting for me today to empty it. One spiced pale ale and one festbier.
What a complicated challenge! 馃槑 Which will be better? I will get the answer to that today. The tasting has just begun.

Winter Star Pale Ale
Brewed by O'Hara's Brewery, Bagenalstown, Ireland. Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.% ABV. It's spiced pale ale, contains rye malt, which gives a natural spiciness and it's flavored with cinnamon and orange peel.
The beer is golden yellow in color, the foam is average, and sticks for a while. Already in the first sip, I smelled strongly of cinnamon. There is a distinct sweetness of rye malt, no bitterness of hops, or very little in the background, I even felt coconut, and above all the aroma of cinnamon prevails.
What can I say? Okay, very drinkable, but too much cinnamon for my taste. If it was just a shade less, this beer would be top-notch for me. I have nothing against cinnamon, a good spice, especially for sweets, but if there is too much of it anywhere, it bothers me and I don鈥檛 like it. But I would have one such bottle in the fridge as exotic to offer to Lager drinkers :) 馃槑

Weihenstephaner Festbier
Brewed by Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, Freising, Bavaria, Germany.
Interesting fact: Found out that this is the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world. founded in 1040 and is owned by the Free State of Bavaria. Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.8% ABV. It's a festbier, seasonal lager. Let's taste the beer from the oldest brewery in the world now!
The beer is clear yellow in color, the foam is firm and durable. The first sip runs smoothly down my throat. I feel the sweetness of the malt, then the bitterness of the hops, the discreet aroma of honey and hay. Very well balanced, with no pronounced aroma or taste. Great beer, just like I imagine. Very drinkable and balanced flavors and aromas. If you ask me, I would drink this every day. This beer SHOULD be in my fridge!
