Natural disasters can reveal the best and worst of humanity; in a matter of seconds, everything can change forever. There is an anime that explores precisely this: Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 tells the story of Mirai, a teenager deeply frustrated with her family life. Her relationship with her parents is far from pleasant for her鈥攁nd even less so for her brother, Yuuki. The two embark on a trip to the artificial island of Odaiba as part of an excursion; it is during this journey that a magnitude 8.0 earthquake strikes the Japanese capital, plunging the city into total chaos.
Los desastres naturales pueden dejar ver lo mejor y peor del ser humano, en cuesti贸n de segundos, todo puede cambiar para siempre. Justamente existe un anime que trata de eso, Tokyo Magnitud 8.0 relata la historia de Mirai, una adolescente sumamente frustrada por su convivencia familiar, la relaci贸n que tiene con sus padres no es del todo agradable para ella, mucho menos para su hermano Yuuki. Ambos emprenden un viaje a la isla artificial "Odaiba", como parte de una excursi贸n, es en este viaje que en la capital japonesa ocurre un terremoto de magnitud 8.0, el cual deja a la ciudad sumida en un total caos.
Mirai and her brother embark on a journey back to the city to reunite with their parents, but the road is chaotic, making it incredibly difficult for them to get home. This is where Mari, a delivery woman who also needs to get home to her daughter, comes in. She decides to help the siblings reach the city. This is essentially the dynamic of the story, told in just 11 episodes. The ending is quite heartbreaking, sad, and somewhat emotional (I can't give you any spoilers 馃ス).
Mirai en compa帽铆a de su hermano emprenden un viaje para volver a la cuidad y reunirse con sus padres, pero el camino est谩 hecho un caos, as铆 que se les dificulta much铆simo el poder regresar a casa, es aqu铆 donde aparece Mari, una repartidora que tambi茅n necesita volver a casa para reencontrarse con su hija, as铆 que decide ayudar a los hermanos a llegar a la cuidad. Est谩 es b谩sicamente la din谩mica que existe en la historia contada en solo 11 episodios, el final es bastante desgarrador, triste y algo emotivo (no les puedo dar spoiler 馃ス).
I give this series a 8/10. Firstly, because the studio went to great lengths to make everything as realistic as possible, basing it on data, simulations, research, rescues, fires, seismology, and collective psychology regarding people's responses to natural disasters. In this way, they managed to make the desperation it conveys 100% real. Secondly, because of the excellent character development for Mirai and her brother. From episode 4 onwards, we can see that she matures through sheer force of will, and the disaster teaches her a clear lesson. And thirdly, because it leaves a deeply moving reflection that breaks your heart...
A esta serie le doy un 8/10, primeramente porque el estudio se esforz贸 en hacer todo lo m谩s realista posible, bas谩ndose en datos, simulaciones, investigaciones, rescates, incendios, sismolog铆a y psicolog铆a colectiva con respecto a la respuesta de las personas en desastres naturales, de esta manera lograron que la desesperaci贸n que transmite sea 100% real. Segundo, por el excelente desarrollo de personaje para Mirai y su hermano, desde el cap铆tulo 4 en adelante podemos notar que madura a la fuerza y el desastre le deja una clara lecci贸n. Y en tercer lugar, porque deja una emotiva reflexi贸n que parte el alma...
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is not just a drama, action, and disaster anime; it shows the harshest aspects of society when it's affected by nature, and how people can change radically after experiencing such an event. The ending wasn't the best, but it was the most realistic for this type of situation. The biggest lesson I take away is to love your loved ones, to love life, and to appreciate it even on bad days, because you never know when the earth will shake beneath your feet and, with it, shake your entire world.
Tokyo magnitud 8.0 no solo es un anime de drama, acci贸n y desastre natural, muestra los aspectos m谩s crudos de la sociedad cuando se ve afectada por la naturaleza y de c贸mo las personas pueden cambiar radicalmente despu茅s de vivir un acontecimiento como este. El final de la historia no fue el mejor de todos, pero s铆 el m谩s realista para este tipo de casos. La mayor lecci贸n que me llevo es amar a tus seres queridos, amar la vida y apreciarla hasta en los d铆as malos, pues no se sabe en qu茅 momento la tierra sacuda tus pies y con esto mueva todo tu mundo.
