Last week I posted about experimenting with something I feel like we don't have enough of on Hive: consumer rewards.

I want to point out that scrobble.life is far from fleshed out fully, there's a lot of work left to be done and many who've helped make it better by providing feedback. I do however like the direction its heading as well as the uniqueness it brings of how it started out, and I'd like to continue making it more unique with experimental systems such as consumer rewards and different user oriented algo's based on on-site actions.
Another thing worth noting is that consumer rewards are obviously something people are going to attempt to game and abuse, this is why I'm purposefully not releasing exact methods of how they measure things, how the points are distributed, etc. It's not meant to be a focus of people aiming to maximize them as we may some times see even with short form content containers to get as much of their pool of tips from
Ever since a couple days ago we've implemented a 10% default beneficiary rewards to anyone posting through scrobble.life. This is how we're going to be funding consumer rewards starting out, so you can expect that in 5 days or so when the first rewards start paying out, or the liquid portion at least, will start going out to consumers based on their activities on scrobble.life.
There are however some restrictions I need to mention as to who won't get consumer rewards.
This does not affect scrobbling and logging of music/videos/movies/etc. We wanna strictly keep that activity non-incentivized as it needs to remain genuine. This is also a reason why we didn't create a token surrounding scrobbles because before we know it we'd have hundreds of alt accounts running on hundreds of VM browsers scrobbling music to fake activity to mine tokens.
Instead we want to offer people real benefits based on their true listening habits which they can later utilize to improve their access to new content, compare with other people, check top scrobbled songs/videos from artists/content creators and other forms of entertainment suited towards them based on their history. At the same time we escape the clutches of web2 where your data isn't really yours but subject to being deleted at any time, your account being banned/blocked from accessing them as well as your data being sold to advertisers/data hoarders to profit the service owners. Instead your data is public and open for anyone to see - unless you decide to make it anonymous which then only your private posting key can access - which we've implemented as well.
Either way, without sidetracking too much -
If you're using scrobble.life to consume content, interact with content there, etc, you may start seeing some hive rewards come in in 5 days time and we hope that with your activity we can further improve and strengthen the system from abuse/fake/cheating activity.
One thing I want to mention is that consumer rewards are mainly targeted towards consumers right now and not who's being consumed. This is naturally another step we will bring into the equation eventually - hopefully with adrevenue on top by then - but something to note so you don't get your hopes up.
With this addition we would also like to see how the algo starts taking shape for your personal feeds as starting out it'll mainly be based on who you follow on-chain while ignoring past interactions/voting in an effort to offer a fresh start to use the site and the algo mainly growing based on that.
