First time here? - What is RustedWax?
RustedWax is an Android scrobbler I started building because I wanted an easier way to bring the music and videos I already listen to into the Scrobble.life / Hive ecosystem. Instead of changing how you listen to media, RustedWax works in the background with the apps you already use and keeps track of what is actually playing.
At the moment it mainly focuses on YouTube, YouTube Music and browsers like Brave. RustedWax detects the media, figures out what you are listening to or watching, keeps track of the real playback time and, when the requirements are met, creates the scrobble on Hive so it can also appear on Scrobble.life. The idea is that you just keep using your phone normally and RustedWax handles the scrobbling part for you.
The reason I built it this way is because I want RustedWax to be media first and Hive second. You shouldn't have to sit on a website all day or change your listening habits just to participate. Listen to your music, watch your videos, and RustedWax connects that activity with the Scrobble.life ecosystem in the background. Im also slowly adding social features around the media, like Snaps, replies and Likes, without turning the app into a full social network.
Since the written guide turn out a bit extensive in text, I recorded a video on how to setup RustedWax, keep in mind Im still developing the app and the on boarding is not very friendly so eventually during the setup the goal is that it ask you some questions and guide you directly on the app. I cover every step you got to take so all features work.
