A Healthier Dinner Tonight... Seafood Spinach La Mian and Shine Muscat Grapes
I just came back from the shopping mall, and now I’m back to my Campfire chatting again LOL.
Tonight, I went to the mall with one simple mission in mind: I wanted to have a nice and healthier dinner. The past week has been quite heavy for me when it comes to food. I’ve been eating several high-calorie and rich meals, and eventually I started feeling a little guilty about it. So tonight, I thought it was finally time to give my stomach something lighter and more balanced.
I decided to head over to Food Republic, and while looking around at the different stalls, the Spinach Chef immediately caught my attention. Their menu has plenty of noodle dishes, but the one that looked perfect for what I wanted tonight was their Seafood Spinach La Mian.
And so that’s what I ordered!
The Seafood Spinach La Mian costs SGD 7.00, and I also added an egg for another SGD 1.00. For SGD 8.00 in total, I think it was a pretty good deal considering the serving size and the amount of ingredients inside the bowl. Food Republic also has a comfortable dining environment, so I don’t really mind paying this kind of price for a meal here.
When the bowl arrived, the first thing that caught my attention was the spinach.
For me, one good sign that leafy vegetables are cooked properly is when they still have that beautiful and vibrant green color. Once vegetables stay inside hot soup for too long, they can become overly soft and lose some of that freshness. So naturally, I started eating the spinach first while it was still in its best condition LOL.
It was tender but still had enough texture, which was exactly how I wanted it.
Then there’s the La Mian itself. These noodles have a rounded shape with a slightly chewy and springy texture. I really like this kind of noodle for soup because it doesn’t feel too soft even after sitting in the broth for a while. Every mouthful of noodles soaked up some of the light and comforting soup.
The bowl also came with plenty of other ingredients. There were prawns, tofu, tomatoes, fried shallots, spinach, seafood, and of course my additional egg. I especially liked how the fried shallots added a little extra fragrance to an otherwise clean-tasting soup.
The tomatoes also gave the broth a slight freshness while the tofu made the meal feel even more filling without making it too heavy.
Overall, I think this Seafood Spinach La Mian was exactly the kind of dinner I needed tonight. It was warm, comforting, satisfying, and had a nice balance of noodles, vegetables, seafood, tofu, and egg.
But my healthier food adventure didn’t end there!
After dinner, I went to the grocery store and spotted some Shine Muscat green grapes. Instead of buying cake, ice cream, or another sweet dessert, I decided to get the grapes instead. They looked incredibly fresh, plump, and juicy.
I think it’s a pretty good way to finish my meal tonight. A comforting bowl of spinach seafood noodles followed by some fresh grapes for dessert.
Not a bad way to recover from a week of indulgent food, right? LOL.
Cheers and Bon appetit!
