Three Weeks Into HiveGrove... Growing My Grove and my Network!

It has already been three weeks since I started playing HiveGrove, and so far, I can honestly say that it has been an enjoyable experience for me. During these three weeks, I’ve learned a lot about how the game works, experimented with different items, expanded my grove, and most importantly, interacted with many other players.

What I really like about HiveGrove is its simplicity. The basic mechanics are easy to understand, but there’s still enough strategy involved to make you think about how you want to develop your grove.

Another thing that makes the game enjoyable is the community aspect. HiveGrove encourages cooperation rather than simply competing against other players. Helping someone water their tree, gifting wishlist items, inviting new players, and participating in community activities all contribute to the experience. I actually think this is a great game mechanic that current and future Hive game developers could consider incorporating into their own projects.

From One Free Tree to a Full Grove

My journey started with a free tree gifted to me by another player.

During my first week, I didn’t immediately buy land or additional trees. Instead, I focused on learning. I bought different items such as fertilizer, worms, pollen, and other upgrades just to see what effect they would have on my tree.

I wanted to understand the mechanics first before spending heavily.

By my second week, I finally had an idea of what strategy I wanted to follow, so I decided to expand aggressively. I bought enough land to reach 10 land slots, which is currently the maximum, and then filled those lands with 10 trees.

Interestingly, I eventually chopped down my original free tree. 😅

The land became too valuable for me to keep a tree with relatively low yield and slower growth, so I replaced it with a Maple Tree that produces around 3x better rewards and grows much faster. At this stage of my grove, I realized that time is also a valuable resource.

After three weeks of buying trees, items, and gifting items to other players, I’ve now spent 208.320 HIVE in total. Meanwhile, my grove has already earned me 15.385 HIVE.

Of course, the earnings should improve as my trees mature.

One of my favorite trees is the Cherry Blossom. Aside from looking beautiful, it’s also the fastest-growing tree in my grove. Some of my Cherry Blossoms will reach the Young stage in less than a week.

Once they mature, their watering reward receives a 20% boost. Their current reward is 0.07 HIVE per watering, which should increase to 0.084 HIVE once they become Young trees.

My Pine Trees grow slower, but they compensate with better rewards.

As seedlings, they currently generate 0.09 HIVE per watering, and once they reach the Young stage, that should increase to 0.108 HIVE.

Pretty cool!

What makes HiveGrove convenient is that the grove itself is mostly passive. Watering all my trees and claiming the rewards usually takes only around 1–2 minutes.

But there’s another side of the game for people who want to be much more active.

The Leaderboard Makes Things Exciting

I’ve also been very active in the HiveGrove community, particularly with missions and helping other players.

The current Season 1 will end in less than four days, and the prize pool is already approaching 1,800 HIVE. At the rate it’s growing, I wouldn’t be surprised if it reaches somewhere around 2,000 HIVE before the season ends.

The reward distribution is currently:

#1: 40%
#2: 30%
#3: 20%
#4–#10: Equal share of the remaining 10%

At the moment, I’m sitting at #5, so I’m in a pretty good position to earn part of the prize pool. That definitely makes the final days of the season more exciting!

The developers have also mentioned that next season, rewards will be expanded to the Top 20, which should give more active players something to aim for.

For my next season, I’ll definitely try to improve my strategy and see how far I can climb.

Three weeks in, HiveGrove has already become another enjoyable part of my Hive routine. It combines passive earning, strategy, community interaction, and a little competition without making the game overly complicated.
