My HiveGrove Leaderboard Strategy... What I’ve Learned So Far
It has only been about a week since I started my HiveGrove journey, but I feel like I’ve already learned quite a lot about the game. A big part of that learning came from engaging with other players through the community chat, or what HiveGrove calls the Campfire.
For me, the Campfire is one of the most useful features of the game because I can ask questions, learn directly from other players, and sometimes get specific information from the developer as well. It reminds me of what I’ve always appreciated about Hive: sometimes the conversations and connections within the community become just as important as the rewards themselves.
For today’s post, however, I want to focus on something that I’ve recently been paying more attention to: the HiveGrove Season Leaderboard.
From my observation, there are basically two sides to the HiveGrove experience. The first is the steady and long-term side, where we grow our grove by purchasing trees and lands that can eventually provide a steady flow of income.
The second is the more competitive side: earning points and trying to win a portion of the Leaderboard Prize Pool!
And this is where things become interesting.
At the time of writing, the prize pool has already reached 445.138 HIVE! The first-place player will receive 40% of the pool, second place gets 30%, third place gets 20%, while the remaining 10% is distributed among players ranked 4th through 10th.
So basically, the mission is simple: get yourself into the Top 10!
The nice thing is that competing doesn't necessarily require investing a huge amount of HIVE. Many of the activities that award points are completely free and are mostly based on participation and engagement.
Here are the nine ways I’ve learned we can earn Leaderboard points:
- 💧 Help water a friend's tree — up to 10 points/day. Visit another player's grove and water their trees. It costs nothing, so this should definitely be part of the daily routine.
- 🛒 Buy an item for yourself — up to 5 points/day. Each item gives 1 point. Since the point is the same regardless of price, I prefer buying something I actually need for my grove.
- 📝 Request a wishlist item — up to 2 points/day. Probably one of the easiest ones because making a wish costs nothing!
- 🎁 Gift someone's wishlist item — up to 12 points/day. Each fulfilled wish earns 3 points. The other player needs to create the wish first before you send the item.
- 👥 Invite a friend who starts playing — up to 9 points/day. You receive 3 points for each successfully onboarded player.
- 📸 Share a Snap — 1 point/day. Simply share one of your HiveGrove achievements through Snaps. Easy point!
- 🔥 Chat in the Campfire — up to 10 points/day. This is probably my favorite because every chat earns 1 point while I'm also getting to know other players.
- 🗳️ Vote on today's Campfire post — 2 points/day. Just one vote is needed, and your amount of HP isn't an issue.
- 🎉 Win a Campfire bonus draw — 5 points/day. This one has an element of luck. HiveGrove randomly leaves a bonus notification on a Campfire post, and you need to reply within 10 minutes to claim the points.
If you manage to complete everything, that's a potential 56 points in a single day!
And I think this is where the strategy becomes clear. You don't necessarily have to be the biggest investor to compete. Consistency, participation, and community engagement matter. That's something I really like because the Leaderboard gives active players another reason to keep coming back every day.
In fact, after only about a week of playing, I’ve already managed to reach #9 with 313 points. Of course, there’s still plenty of time left in the season and the rankings can change quickly, but seeing myself inside the Top 10 makes me even more motivated to keep going.
I also like how HiveGrove turns normal Hive activities—engaging, helping others, sharing Snaps, voting, and onboarding people—into part of the gameplay. It makes the experience feel more social instead of simply being about buying assets and waiting for them to grow.
For now, my strategy is simple: complete as many daily Leaderboard activities as possible and remain consistent until the season ends.
Let’s see if I can hold onto my Top 10 spot... or maybe climb even higher! 😅
Enjoy your HiveGrove gaming experience, everyone!
Hive on! 🌳🐝
