A shipyard may look like a place of progress, steel, and engineering. But for those of us living and working aboard a ship, it can feel like something else entirely — a modern prison surrounded by water.
Here we are, in dry dock, surrounded by towering cranes, countless vessels, and the constant noise of industrial work. Our ship is out of the water, undergoing maintenance and repairs, while time seems to move differently on board.
Beyond these steel walls lies the world we temporarily cannot reach. Days pass between work, rest, and the familiar routines of shipboard life. Even with land just a few steps away, freedom can feel far beyond our reach.
This is the reality of life at sea. We travel across oceans, visit distant ports, and keep the world moving — yet sometimes, the hardest part isn't the voyage itself. It's waiting, confined to a ship, while dry docking takes its course.
A prison without bars. A world without walls, yet a freedom on hold.
Welcome to our modern prison — the shipyard edition. 🚢🔧
