Mexican Murals - Long Lost Manganauts [CCC's Street Art Contest #44]

I want to enter this week's CCC Street Art Contest with an old, lost mural. Okay, it's really not that old, as I took the picture only a few months ago. Since then I had kinda forgotten about it, and now that I've looked through my photos I was pleasantly surprised to see I had this. Especially because the wall this mural was painted on is gone! So once again I feel honored and proud to have preserved this piece of art in the blockchain forever!

The image is of two characters drawn in the unmistakable big-eyed manga style. Not exactly your typical imagery for Mexican street art, which makes them even more interesting. It even looks like as if the picture's protagonists were aware of this themselves. Like visitors to a foreign planet, they wear suits resembling those of astronauts, or maybe deep see divers. The tiny umbrella provides an ironic contrast to this.

Though there is (once again) no artist's tag, at least there is no doubt about who bough the paint: the sponsors of this mural are the huge Mexican paint company, as well as the American shoe company, known for their classic-style sneakers. The location is my often mentioned corner, where the Diagonal Patriotismo meets the Circuito Bicentenario, between the neighborhoods Condesa and San Miguel Chapultepec. At the moment there is little happening, though I'm sure it's just a matter of time before new images start popping up. Stay tuned for more!
