Mexican Murals - Doctor Turtle, One of the Oldest Murals in Mazunte

Do I sound like I'm exaggerating in my title? Maybe, but the truth is, I remember seeing this mural the first time I visited Mazunte many years ago. And although street art tends to be a fickle experience, constantly at the peril of being defaced or painted over, this one clearly managed to stand the test of time. But after all, this town is famous for its sea turtles (even though the name of Mazunte is a type of crab).

Where Is It?

This wall painting can be found on a corner of Mazunte's Main Street (Calle Principal) as you come in from the West, from La Ventanilla. The corner is to a very small side street, right next to (one of the two) "medical centers" of Mazunte, which are barely more than glorified doctor's offices. Though in case of a medical emergency, you'd appreciate any doctor, not matter if glorified or not.

Who's The Artist?

This time it was super easy to identify the hands and mind behind this cool image: AGRA. As it can be clearly seen on his social media site, AGRA loves to paint murals of animals and sacred geometry. Both things I'm a big fan of.

Join The Contest!

At this point I would like to encourage everyone reading this, to take a peek at the Street-Art Community and particularly the CCC's Street Art Contest of which we're in the 33rd this week. Why? Because of all the cool murals. Because of the growing competition. And most interestingly, as I just discovered lately, the HBD you can win. Okay, it's not a lot, but that's not the point. More importantly, there is some interest to be had on your HBD, if there is but one transaction a month. In other words, you only need to win one of the prizes in this weekly contest and you're in.
