Mexican Murals - Lions on Regina [CCC's Street Art Contest #20]

Without losing any time, I'm ready to jump back into the CCC Street Art Contest with a small, albeit not any less impressive mural I found in the center. Once again, it's the (more or less) famous Calle Regina, which I've mentioned so many times already, as it's the home of many murals, such as the flaming child, the sacred condiments, or the familia Burrón. Next to those masterpieces, the mural I want to look at today is rather small. However, it has been executed impeccably, and I think despite its size it's something to look at, even on this street with many great murals.

Lions, Lions, Lions

On its modest surface area located on a wall surrounding an old building, of probably 10 meters long by 2 meters max high, you can see three lion faces. At a closer look you'll realize that it's actually just one full lion in the middle, the two on the sides are half faces, split in two. (I was even tempted to tag this post with LeoFinance, though it has nothing to do with investments...)

Very skillfully painted, the fire-like appearance of yellows and oranges is interrupted by grays and blacks, suggesting rocks. As if the pieces of molten lava had come back to life, giving the lion a fierce and powerful look. Just like the sun, which is the corresponding astrological symbol.

Alejandro Nahual from Hidalgo

Finally, there can be no doubt this time as to who the artist was. His name is, quite obviously, Alejandro Nahual. Why can't other artist have an easily readable tag like him, so looking them up would be easy?
