Mexican Murals - A Lonely Wall With A Lovely Face [CCC's Street Art Contest #12]

I almost forgot: there is a new week, and a new edition of the CCC's Street Art Contest, so once again I want to submit a mural from Mexico City. This time it's a smaller, more benign one, but not any less beautiful. I found this piece on Avenida Chapultepec near Sevilla Metro Station. The street is quite a busy avenue cutting through the Western part of Mexico City, so it is not particularly spectacular. This means, that even a small, unassuming mural comes to shine in its full brightness.

A Personal Portrait Under Water

The image is the face of a young woman with typical Mexican features. Her hair is split in braids, with a bright flower sticking out of one. Her eyes are just as bright, looking at something to the right of the viewer. She has an interesting looking earring, a white disk with the image of a feather. The background is made up layers of various shades of blue, which kinda looks like under water, mostly due to the plants growing in it.

There is not much else about this wall painting, except for that it looks quite pretty. Who could this young lady be? Maybe someone the owner of the wall knows... or knew? There are a number of murals commissioned to the remembrance of some departed loved ones.

Not Even the Most Impressive Piece

The artist behind this mural can easily be identified as DUEK_glez. A qick glance at their page will give you an idea of the kind of art this muralist usually creates. Super exciting images on gigantic walls! Wow! Compared to that, this little image is a very humble and benign one. Had I not come across it by accident, I may not even have dedicated a post to it. But this way, I'm even happier that I did.
