Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
Another hot and lazy Saturday. It's not advisable to be out in the sun in the afternoon. Drink as much fluid as possible. I agree.
At home, I am watching our (Slovenian) climber Janja Garbret, who has just won an Olympic gold medal. Outstanding performance.
And I drink cold liquids. Beer, of course, but what else :)
I will take this opportunity to congratulate Janja on her medal and celebrate with two chilled Czech cans.
And it's 371 #beersaturday.
Let's go to the Czech Republic!
Platan Premium
Brewed by Pivovar Protivín, Protivín, South Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, 28 IBU.
It's Bohemian or Czech lager style beer, rich with malt and hops and well balanced.
What do the Master Brewers say?
This traditional South Bohemian lager is characterised by a very full flavour, a typical malty aroma and a mild bitterness.
A lager with high fullness.
🍺
I got it from the Eurospin local shop, the perfect price, €0.79.
The beer is clear amber in color, with a solid head that lasts. It smells of hops and malt. A sip goes down the throat smoothly; I taste the bitterness of the hops in my mouth, followed immediately by malt, bread, and hints of caramel.
The bitterness of the hops lingers in the aftertaste for quite some time.
This is a very drinkable and tasty beer. It is a pure-bred, classic Czech lager with an outstanding balance of bitterness and sweetness, suitable for all occasions. It's supplied locally, and the price is very reasonable.
The fridge is already filling up!
Janja Gartner is an exceptional climber, boasting two Olympic gold medals, eight world championships, four European championships, and 45 World Cup victories.
Her home team affectionately calls her the mountain goat.
Congrats to her! 🍻
Let's move on; another Czech is waiting!
Radegast Ryze hořká 12
Brewed by Radegast (Asahi), Nošovice, Moravia-Silesia, Czech Republic.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.1% ABV, 36 IBU.
It's the same style as previous, Bohemian/Czech lager.
What do the Master Brewers say?
The purely bitter twelve is a premium pale lager with a characteristic bitterness and full flavour. Thanks to the use of three types of Moravian hops: Žatecký poloraný červeňák, Sládek and Žatecký pozdní, it stands out for its distinctive hop aroma.
🍺
I got it from a friend who brought it from the Czech Republic.
The beer is clear, dark golden, and has a solid head. It smells of hops. A sip goes smoothly down the throat. I taste a distinct hop bitterness on the palate, followed by grainy malt notes, bread, and herbs.
The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste, and everything else disappears.
It's drinkable and refreshing. It has more bitterness than the previous one and is less balanced. However, it's a drinkable lager with a solid bitterness, different from IPA beers.
If it were locally available, it would end up in my fridge.
And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from the yesterdays #newtunes post. Velvet Underground cover with new studio speakers :)
