Beer Tasting: Grieskirchner Dunkler and St. Bernardus Tripel

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

What's going on? The Hive is growing nicely and all of you (us) who hodl BTC or Ether can be happy. Yes, I know, after two years of drought we would like more. But too much greed isn't good either.

That's why we have #beersaturday, 349 in a row, to ground us and bring us down to reality. Have a beer and don't worry too much about the crypto. It's going its way anyway.

It's the second rainy week here and since there's nothing to do on the ground outside I decided to have my beer tasting earlier, in the evening I'm going to record a band... The Three Blind Mice, a rock band from Italy...

And I had to hurry. I have, as you have seen, two bottles in front of me, one Austrian and one Belgian, and I will be happy to empty them :)

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Grieskirchner Dunkler Bock

Brewed by Brauerei Grieskirchen, Grieskirchen, Austria.
Bottle, 0.33l, alcohol 7.2.0% ABV, IBU 21.
It's a Dunkel or Dark Lager style beer, more sweet than bitter, with a dark roasted malt, and rich coffee or chocolate flavors.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Anyone who thinks beer always has to be bitter and is not for those with a sweet tooth is not quite right. Grieskirchner Dunkel - our sweet, malty temptation is just right for the delicate palate. The extraordinary taste is based on a well-rounded composition of dark malt and the best hops. Always worth a glass!

Yes, I'm one of those who prefer bitterness.

The beer is brown in color, there is little head and it smells of roasted malt. A sip goes down the throat smoothly and I taste a bitter-sweet taste of malt and coffee, maybe hints of sweet caramel or molasses.
In the aftertaste, this bittersweet coffee flavor lingers for a while.

The beer is tasty and drinkable, there is sweetness and bitterness, maybe too much sweetness for my taste, and the bitterness of the coffee is not the same as the bitterness of the hops, which is not noticeable in this beer.

Let's move on because it's such a shity rainy day that I can't even search for memes...

St. Bernardus Tripel

Brewed by St. Bernardus Brouwerij, Watou, West Flanders, Belgium.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 8.0% ABV, IBU 25.
It's a Tripel-style beer, a dry and strong Belgian ale, with sometimes spicy malt flavor and firm bitterness.

What do the Master Brewers say?

St.Bernardus Tripel is a traditional abbey beer that follows the classic tripel style. It has a slightly sweet aroma and a flowery, fruity taste in which bitter and sweet merge harmoniously. Thanks to its pleasant hoppiness, the mouth feel of this beer is nothing short of beatific - it quenches your thirst and stimulates the appetite and this is what we call a perfect combination. A hugely accessible beer that is surprisingly light in character.

To see why this is the case

The beer is golden in color, the head is solid and persistent. A sip goes down the throat quickly, and the palate is dominated by the sweetness of the malt, the taste of banana (vanilla?), and honey, I also taste the bitterness of hops but more in the background.
In the aftertaste, it all disappears quickly.

It works for me light and drinkable although it contains a lot of alcohol. If it didn't have a strong banana taste I would even like it and a bottle would end up in my fridge because it's available in E-Leclerc and Spar stores. But it won't.
For this beer, there will be only this post :)

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from yesterday #newtunes post. The Queen of Gothic Rock.
