Beer Tasting: Craft King & Demon Juice

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you, my beer-drinking brothers (and sisters, of course)? Not to be unfair, but sometimes, you don't know how to express something these days properly. Or should I put my sisters first?
I'd better not continue because today is the 356th #beersaturday, and, believe it or not, I'm more interested in this topic than the previous one.

Two related beers, by style, I mean. One Croatian and one Danish were chilling in my fridge today, and I'll be happy to open them β€” first, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Craft King Session IPA

Brewed by Zmajska Pivovara, Zagreb, Croatia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 3.9% ABV, IBU 35.
It's Session IPA style, which means hoppy and bitter, brewed by modern American or New World hop varieties, usually lower in alcohol than standard IPA.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Craft King Session IPA is a representative of the newer beer style and is characterised by its rich, refreshing hop aromas of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, pine, and with low alcohol content.
It can therefore be drunk at any time of the day, as needed and in large quantities, and its effect on the mind and body is - proven - healing.

🍺
Healing? That's the word. A beer that heals is something I need, given the amount I've stuffed into myself so far. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

The beer is clear golden in color, with an average head. It smells of fresh hops and pine. The sip goes down the throat smoothly. A distinct hop bitterness dominates, and underneath is grapefruit, citrus, pine, and maybe more flavors.
The hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for some time.

Very fresh and drinkable beer! The bitterness and tropical flavors are in harmony to make you want another. And then another...
Since it is locally available (Eurospin shop), and the price for an IPA is relatively reasonable (€2.19), it will land a few bottles in my fridge.

🍻 😎 🍻

Tomorrow my wife and I are going to the seaside for a couple of days on the island of Pag. Although it is raining and muddy here, I have picked some asparagus in the field, which will be used in an omelet when we arrive.

🍻 😎 🍻

Demon Juice Dryhopped Hazy IPA

Brewed by Amager Bryghus, Kastrup, Denmark.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 7.0 ABV, IBU 32.
It's a Hazy IPA or Juicy IPA style, hoppy and bitter, brewed with American hop varieties and with intense fruit and flavor aromas.

What do the Master Brewers say?

A collaboration made with Titletown Brewing Co. , Green Bay, Wisconsin
Demon Juice is a beer born out of friendship across borders. Back in 2016 Jacqueline Weycker, out of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was an exchange student in Copenhagen, living with a host family at Amager. Jacqueline – or Jackie – came from a brewing background as back in 1996, her dad, Brent had founded one of the earliest craft breweries back home in Green Bay: Titletown Brewing Co, located in an old train depot registered in the National Register of Historic Places. Knowing her interest in beer and brewing, her Danish host family took her to Amager Bryghus where she immediately became a friend and volunteer pouring beer at a couple of Amager events with the skill and professionalism that only an upbringing in the beer world can give you! In the spring of 2019 Jackie messaged us, telling that she was gonna be back in Europe, this time bringing her whole family on a holiday. We quickly arranged a stop-over in Denmark, this time to make an official collaboration beer between Titletown and Amager. And so it was that on May 13th no less than 5 representatives of the Weycker family, led by Jackie and her dad Brent, came to brew Demon Juice over a breakfast loaded with plenty of danishes. As Amager, like Green Bay, is a proud location for American football, we named the beer with a friendly nod at our very own local football heroes, the Amager Demons.

🍻
Wow, that is a lovely story about collaboration. I like it.

The beer is cloudy yellow; the head is solid and persistent. It smells of hops. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and first, I taste the bitterness of the hops, which is not very pronounced, then the flavors of pineapple and grapefruit, maybe passion fruit, also slightly sweet.
The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for quite a while.

Both beers are first-class!
But I am subjective because IPA is my favorite style. For the first one I could drink it all day :), but for the second one, I would be a bit careful, because it has almost one more alcohol and if you insist a lot can happen...

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from yesterday's #newtunes post. It was a new band for me (and on the scene), but I was immediately drawn in.
