Beer Tasting Efes Pilsener, SanMiguel Special, Hollandia Premium, and Schiri

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How have you been lately? It's been hot and humid here for about two weeks and doesn't seem to improve. It's best to stay in the shade or somewhere cool until sunset and drink plenty of fluids. I'm trying to do that myself by drinking a lot of liquids, including icy beer.
The European Football Championship is on, and tomorrow's final between Spain and England will be televised. I might even watch it.

Speaking of beer, today is the 367th #beersaturday challenge. I'm watching the best moments of the matches in retrospect and tasting different beers simultaneously.

So, a few weeks ago, I received a Kalea Beer Box containing 12 football fan-themed beers.

And today, I've selected four bottles to find out which beers football fans prefer. I'll be finding out soon and share this secrets with you :) 😂

🍻 😎 🍻

EFES Pilsener

Brewed by Anadolu Efes, Istanbul, Türkiye.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5% ABV, IBU 22.
It's Pilsener-style beer, straightforward, more malty than hoppy.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The name Efes has been synonymous with beer in Türkiye since their Pilsener hit the scene in 1969. Made with malts produced in Efes’s own malteries, this brew presents a quintessential German-style pilsner appearance in the glass: pure golden in color with nice clarity, capped by a bright white head of foam that drops some lace as it recedes. Light in body, but very smooth and creamy on the palate, it closes crisp, per the style.

🍺

The beer is yellow, with an average head that disappears quickly. It's odorless. When I take a sip, it goes down smoothly, and I can taste the mild sweetness of the malt and a subtle bitterness from the hops in my mouth. I also get flavors of flour and fresh bread.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears quickly.

Overall, it's not particularly impressive, just a typical industrial beer.

Let's move forward!

🍻 😎 🍻

SanMiguel Especial

Brewed by Mahou San Miguel, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.4% ABV, IBU 25.
It's an International Pale Lager-style beer, well-balanced and without solid flavors.

What do the Master Brewers say?

San Miguel Especial is a pale, golden lager with a rich, full-bodied flavor. Its smooth, full-flavored taste complements its pleasant aroma, making it a perfectly balanced beer. It has a unique heritage of bringing people together and nourishing true friendships for over a hundred years.

🍺

The beer is a golden color with an average head. It doesn't have much of a smell. When I take a sip, it goes down smoothly. I taste the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the malt, which are balanced and not overpowering. Later, I notice some bread and herbal flavors. The aftertaste doesn't last very long.

Overall, it's nothing special, maybe just a bit better than the previous one.

🍻 😎 🍻

My dog, Atos, also tried to watch football but quickly gave up and fell asleep :) 😂

🍻 😎 🍻

Hollandia Premium

Brewed by Swinkels Family Brewers, Lieshout, North Brabant, Nederlands.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.7% ABV, IBU 16.
It's like previous, International Pale Lager style beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

A light and refreshing lager – brewed with high-quality hop – malt and pure water. Smooth in flavor with a bitterness that manifests itself in the aftertaste. Hollandia Premium is a light-colored and clear beer with a sweet nose of grain and citrus fruits. On the palate, this continues with the sweet-bitter flavor of hop and malt, tones of citrus fruits and a clean aftertaste. A quick finish concludes with a slightly bitter tone that leaves a dry finish.

🍺

It's light yellow, with average foam and no odor. The beer goes down the throat smoothly. I taste an unexpressed hop bitterness in the mouth and about the same malt sweetness. It's balanced but without any other flavors; rather, I don't detect them.
In the aftertaste, the faint hop bitterness remains, but everything else disappears.

Again, it is nothing special, an average industrial lager for football fans.

🍻 😎 🍻

It's getting a bit tiring. I've tried three beers, and they all seem almost the same, with very slight differences in taste. Does this mean that all football fans are alike?
What do I know...

Wieninger Schiri

Brewed by Privatbrauerei MC Wieninger, Teisendorf, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.0% ABV, IBU 18.
It's a Helles, or Munich Helles style beer, clean, malty, German pale lager with floral or herbal hops.

What do the Master Brewers say?

This fan beer is available exclusively for Euro 2024. Pure spring water, the best raw materials, Wieninger brewer's yeast, and a traditional, artisanal brewing process give this pale a particularly mild and balanced taste.

🍺

Yeah, I need something mild now...

The beer is clear and light yellow. The head is solid, and there is no noticeable smell. It goes down the throat smoothly. In the mouth, I can feel the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the malt simultaneously, but not intensely; it is very balanced, with a discreet taste of bread and coriander.
In the aftertaste, the hop bitterness lingers for a while, and everything else disappears.

The beer is refreshing but nothing unique or distinctive. It's very similar to all the others. This beer may be the one I will remember the most.
But, indeed, I'm not a football fan who gets excited about wins or losses; I'm more looking for the hair in the egg or the taste in a fan beer.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from the last #newtunes post. A new Slovenian band I recorded last year who recently released their first album.
