Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - A Rare 100% Win This Time!

image.png

Time flies! Just completed the 91st brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

*Note: I skipped a few brawls because I was on vacation, but I am back!!!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 7 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 1st!!!

So for the final result, we were 1st out of 10 guilds and got 1131 Merits and around 9 SPS! That's a top class finish - 60 wins and 11 losses!

Individually, I had 7 fights this time and I won all 7 of them this time! Finished 3rd within the guild.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Cutter Brieze

This was an Equalizer battle and fielding 6 cards proved to be very advantageous. It was a team effort with all the cards dealing 1 damage but MVP goes to Cutter Brieze for costing just 1 mana to field.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

My opponent failed to shut me down with Bortus as I had a diversified lineup with 3 attack types. This was one of my favourite Water lineups to play and they did their job and got their routine win!

MVP: Axemaster

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

High mana Poison battles are always tricky because of the wide variety of possibilities. I expected my strong lineup to overcome my opponent easily but they had a self healing Xenith Monk, which made things complicated. Eventually, my Sea Monster gave way and even Wave Brood's Taunt couldn't help. Fortunately, Water Elemental was there to edge out this win!

MVP: Water Elemental

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

This ruleset combination somehow restricted me from using Gladius cards and I opted for an average Water lineup, hoping these Common and Rare cards could work together. Fortunately, my opponent didn't have a strong lineup either, and my Deeplurker was critical in hunting down my opponent's backline with the Opportunity ability.

MVP: Deeplurker

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

This was almost like a free win. I guess my opponent (or bot) didn't have Magic cards in their lineup except this one. It's a 51 mana battle though. Haha.

MVP: NA (Almost like a free win)

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Alfredo

Low mana battles as I have mentioned before often requires a lot of creativity. In this case, I opted for a creative lineup packing my Sea Monster in the last card for this Poison battle. The idea was to wait for everyone to succumb to Poison and it will be an easier time for Sea Monster to fight. It all worked according to plan and it's a nice win.

MVP: Sea Monster

Battle 7 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

This has become one of the Life lineups that I enjoy in recent days. Combining Pelacor Conjurer and Kra'ar Xoc with Aves Sturgis to maximise the Weapons Training ability. Aves Sturgis clearly dominated this battle.

MVP: Aves Sturgis

So that sums up my 7 battles for this brawl! 100% win rate, totally not rusty at all despite being away for weeks!
