Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a global community celebrating live music on Hive. Each week is a new event, inviting creative expression and genuine connection.

Week 52: April 4-10, 2021
English: This week's Hive Open Mic theme is: "Libertad," a.k.a. "Freedom," chosen by our community's recent Spotlight Artist: @natashamartinez. We received another record-breaking number of live music entries this week, ow-ow-owoo! 80+ songs arrived from across the globe. These songs ranged from solo instrumentals and karaoke sing-alongs to elaborate multi-track recordings.
Our community continues to grow and blossom, building friendships through various languages and cultures. Highlights today include recognition of a new Spotlight Artist. The curation continues with an introduction to some exciting newcomers, followed by a selection of outstanding songs that speak to the subject of freedom.

Inspiration
English: George Michael performs "Freedom! '90" at Wembley Arena, of London, UK, in 2006. This was 16 years after the song launched. Clearly the crowd of ~12,500 is enjoying their live music experience. I'm happy seeing the hand drums in the beginning, which I hadn't noticed in this song before.
