Hi bloggers and food lovers, do you like fried foods? Today I’m going to share my family’s favorite fried tempeh recipe. This dish is a common staple you’ll easily find if you visit Indonesia. Tempeh is made by fermenting soybeans and yeast. The tempeh is cut into pieces, coated in a savory flour batter, and deep-fried in hot oil. Okay, let’s get right to it
Ingredients:
6 packages of tempeh
1 egg
5 tbsp all-purpose flour
70 grams all-purpose flour
2 tbsp rice flour
300 ml water
1 stalk green onion
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp mushroom bouillon powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
cooking oil
3 tbsp sweet soy sauce
1 tbsp chili powder
1 clove garlic
3 shallots
Steps:
Slice the tempeh thinly like this
Set aside
Add the all-purpose flour, wheat flour, rice flour and salt to a bowl
Add the round black pepper and mushroom bouillon powder to the bowl
Add the chopped scallions to the bowl
Crack the egg and add it to the bowl
Add water little by little, then mix until the batter looks like this
Heat cooking oil in a skillet
Take a slice of tempeh and dip it into the batter
Once the oil is hot, place the tempeh in the skillet
Fry over medium heat until the tempeh turns slightly brown
Remove and drain
Repeat until all the batter is used up
For the dipping sauce, pour sweet soy sauce into a bowl
Add sliced garlic and shallots
Add chili powder (fresh bird’s eye chilies are better)
Stir until well combined
