Hi bloggers and community members, how was your weekend? Today I’m going to share my weekend experience having breakfast in a small alley, it’s like a hidden gem tucked away in an inconspicuous spot. It’s called Merchants Lane, a restaurant located inside a narrow alley; the place isn’t very big either. Every Sunday, this spot is always packed and has a waiting list because it’s quite popular and has high ratings.

Even with the waiting list, you won’t get bored waiting because along the alley there are several beautiful murals you can admire or take photos with. The walls on both sides are covered with murals depicting everyday life, that’s pretty cool. This Sunday I was lucky because I didn’t have to wait long; my friends and I were able to get a table for three. Every table was full on Car Free Day, the surrounding area is packed with people looking for a place to have breakfast.

We got a spot right in front of the bar counter. They offer several Malaysian-style dishes, ranging from Gula Melaka Butter Toast to Merchants Lane Penang CKT, along with various coffee, tea, and soy milk options. We ordered a few must-try items here: Merchants Lane Penang CKT, Gula Melaka Butter Toast, Peanut Butter Toast, Merchants Lane Egg Tart, Ice Salted Kopi, and Fresh Soya Milk with Gula Melaka.

Gula Melaka Butter Toast

This toast is incredibly fragrant, with a crunchy crust and a filling of sweet palm sugar and aromatic butter, a delightful combination of flavors and aromas from the very first bite. I regret not ordering a sunny-side-up egg; it would have created an extraordinary taste.

Peanut Butter Toast

This dish is perfect for those who don’t have much of a sweet tooth. The not-too-sweet peanut butter and butter inside make a great combination for a light breakfast in the morning. It would be perfect with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning.

Merchants Lane Penang CKT

This dish is a delicious, savory option. It looks very appealing and tastes great too; the smoky aroma whets your appetite, and the thick, chewy noodles with their rich seasoning make it delicious though for me, it was a bit too salty, but still enjoyable.

Merchants Lane Egg Tart

This dessert isn’t overly sweet either; it’s delicious and creamy with a flaky crust. It’s perfect as a dessert.

Fresh Soya Milk with Gula Melaka

This is the drink I ordered, it’s fresh and sweet from the Gula Melaka, with a little surprise from the hint of ginger inside. It feels warmer and healthier; unfortunately, they only offer an iced version I think it would taste even better if this drink came in a hot version.

Okay, that’s all for my last weekend. Thank you..
