Friday. Today I went out with my husband to train. Since he’s been missing some workouts lately, and I’ve been having some hip discomfort, we chose a mostly flat route with minimal elevation gain and a well-defined loop, without straying too far from our starting point. We left early to train. You could tell it had rained overnight—I didn’t even feel it, which is good because it means I got some rest. The sky was cloudy when we set out. We started the workout with a 5-minute warm-up. We should have warmed up longer, but since we were going at a very easy pace today, we were able to cut the warm-up a little short.
I loved the route we chose for today; it seemed very safe to me, and it’s already on my list for when I train alone. We ran along several city avenues—I love them because they’re wide and in good condition. We made it to a little iconic square in my city. Along the way, we ran into a guy who was out running; I admire his stride—you can tell he’s really enjoying his jog; it doesn’t look like he’s exerting any effort at all—he even passed us, haha. Thank goodness I had the best hydration in the world: coconut water. When we were almost at the 8-kilometer mark, we adjusted our pace so that the last few meters would take us right home. It was a workout that was mostly in Zone 2—an ideal workout for building a solid running foundation. We’ll keep giving our best in every workout.
