Today, one of my favorite and most iconic races in Venezuela took place: Gatorade CCS Rock. Although I didn’t officially participate this year, I decided to enjoy the experience in a special way—alongside my wife and several friends—by running a 12-kilometer route and wearing last year’s race T-shirt as a show of support for the #hiverun team, which did compete in today’s race.
I hadn’t run for several days due to some discomfort in my left knee, so I wasn’t sure exactly how my body would respond. However, I felt great right from the start. The weather was cool, the atmosphere was incredible, and everyone’s energy was palpable with every kilometer.
My main goal was to enjoy the course and keep my heart rate below 145 beats per minute. So I kept a close eye on my watch, regulating my pace, and being mindful of every effort. Fortunately, I was able to complete the entire course feeling comfortable, chatting with my fellow runners, and sharing stories about this wonderful event.
More than just covering a distance, today was about rediscovering those good feelings. Every kilometer is an opportunity to enjoy, be grateful, and share.
I’m left with the joy of having finished well, without straining my knee, and surrounded by people who make this sport even more special. Congratulations to all the runners who participated today and, especially, to the #hiverun team. Let’s keep racking up kilometers and experiences! 🏃♂️🙏🎸💪🔥
