Hello,my friends!
Today, we’re going to cook perhaps the simplest dish possible using canned cod liver—it truly doesn’t get any easier. All you need to do is open a tin of good-quality cod liver. Since cod liver is quite expensive these days, any dish featuring it is essentially a delicacy. The recipe is incredibly straightforward, with no unnecessary frills! I’ll be using some homemade canned cod liver that I prepared myself. Let’s go—it’s going to be all about fish and liver!
Ingredients:
● Cod liver – 200 g
● Potatoes – 10 pcs
● Dill (dried or fresh) and ground black pepper – to taste
● Salt – a pinch
1.Open the tin of cod liver. I usually drain the unpleasant fish oil, but feel free to keep it if you have a use for it. Drain the oil and pat the liver dry. In this case, I’m using cod liver I prepared at home—I needed to sample my own handiwork! The taste test was a success, and everyone is safe and sound. You can peel the potatoes, or wash them and boil them in their skins—it’s entirely up to you. You could even make mashed potatoes if you prefer. The only hard-and-fast rule is that this dish must be served with boiled potatoes. Avoid frying the potatoes; cod liver is very rich in fat, and combining it with potatoes fried in oil would simply be too much. Your pancreas wouldn’t be happy! I peeled the potatoes and boiled them in salted water until tender—this took about 30 minutes. The potatoes weren’t the largest.
2.Place the pieces of cod liver and the boiled potatoes onto a plate. Sprinkle the dish with dill and ground black pepper—and you’re ready to eat.
Not bad at all! When the ingredients are high-quality to begin with, the end result is bound to be good—especially when there’s hardly any actual cooking involved. So easy!
Shall we make it?
Man könnte sogar Kartoffelpüree daraus machen.
Ganz einfach!
