Happy Sunday, blog friends, how are you? Today we spent a family Sunday with my stepdaughter and my mother-in-law. With everyone's busy schedule, it's hard to get together except during the holidays, but today we managed it. It was a beautiful day, so we went to visit my mother-in-law. She cooks beautifully, but I can tell you, my stepdaughter is also very good in the kitchen. In fact, today my husband and I were guests because my stepdaughter and my mother-in-law cooked together. My mother-in-law cooked the pasta (pasta is now a must on Sundays, at least here in Italy), and my stepdaughter took care of the sauce.
Using my mother-in-law's tomato sauce (she makes it at home and is very good at it, she always has large supplies), she prepared a pasta dish with cream, mozzarella, and grated parmesan cheese. She crushed an egg to make the crust and baked it with our help. She was very good at it, and the result was a delicious, stringy baked pasta dish, even though, as always, the portions were really generous.

Con la agenda tan apretada de todos, es dif铆cil reunirse excepto en d铆as festivos, pero hoy lo logramos. Hac铆a un d铆a precioso, as铆 que fuimos a visitar a mi suegra. Ella cocina de maravilla, pero les aseguro que mi hijastra tambi茅n se desenvuelve muy bien en la cocina. De hecho, hoy mi esposo y yo fuimos invitados porque mi hijastra y mi suegra cocinaron juntas. Mi suegra prepar贸 la pasta (la pasta es imprescindible los domingos, al menos aqu铆 en Italia), y mi hijastra se encarg贸 de la salsa.
Con la salsa de tomate de mi suegra (que prepara en casa y le sale de maravilla, siempre tiene mucha), prepar贸 un plato de pasta con crema, mozzarella y queso parmesano rallado. Bati贸 un huevo para hacer la masa y la horne贸 con nuestra ayuda. Le sali贸 de maravilla, y el resultado fue una pasta al horno deliciosa y con una textura el谩stica, aunque, como siempre, las raciones eran muy generosas.
She also helped her prepare the meat, a simple pork cut. My stepdaughter also prepared a sauce for the meat with oil and parsley, and the meat was delicious too. It was really nice to see them cook together. Today, many young people don't like cooking or even being in the company of their grandparents. However, seeing that my stepdaughter enjoys cooking with her grandmother is a pleasant thing. They have a lot of fun together in the kitchen, and this way the girl is also away from her cell phone, which is great because when she cooks, she doesn't really care about it (today, many children and teenagers, in my opinion, are on the internet too much). It was an excellent lunch, obviously, but also a nice moment of family sharing that ended with a nice walk to work off all the pasta and meat!
Tambi茅n la ayud贸 a preparar la carne, un sencillo corte de cerdo. Mi hijastra tambi茅n prepar贸 una salsa para la carne con aceite y perejil, y la carne estaba deliciosa. Fue muy bonito verlas cocinar juntas. Hoy en d铆a, a muchos j贸venes no les gusta cocinar ni siquiera estar con sus abuelos. Sin embargo, ver que mi hijastra disfruta cocinando con su abuela es muy agradable. Se divierten mucho juntas en la cocina, y as铆 la ni帽a tambi茅n se aleja del m贸vil, lo cual es genial porque cuando cocina, no le importa (hoy en d铆a, muchos ni帽os y adolescentes, en mi opini贸n, pasan demasiado tiempo en internet). Fue un almuerzo excelente, obviamente, pero tambi茅n un bonito momento para compartir en familia que termin贸 con un agradable paseo para quemar las calor铆as de la pasta y la carne.
