Ability strategy analysis: Double Strike

Ability strategy twitter.png

Introduction

This week ability deep dive is double strike. One of the ability's that I did own in the beginning of splinterland and was losing very often against Axemaster . So it became obvious that double strike is very strong ability now a day more units have. An I also own a view of them.

Ability

Simple units may attack twice.
Note: With an unit that has double strike and two attack type it can hit up to 4 times like:

Synergies / strategy

Abilities benefits

Inspire - This can buff you double strike unit with some extra damage.
Demoralize - It will reduce the damage that you double strike unit will take form any melee unit
Swiftness/Slow - These are more useful so your double strike unit can hit first an maybe kill you opponent before it can strike at you.

Ruleset benefits
Aim True - makes sure that all attack of the double strike unit will count.

Mine double strike units:

This time i found it hard to choose one. Most of them i use in certain situations.

The final verdict is Coastal sentry. An nice soulbound unit that hase some great battle and often combined with

Strategy

No legendaries, but still possible to select legendary summoners. With the Fog of War rules i like to play Possibilus the Wise in combination with Coastal Sentry

Rulesets

Lost Legendaries:
No lagendaries units may be selected. Still legendary summoners can be selected.

Fog of War:
All units will lose sneak/snipe and opportunity abilities.
This is often a good rule set to play Possibilus the Wise

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
To have an very affective combo with coastal sentry i love this summoner. I do not chose this summoner not often without costal sentry

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Diemonshark (lvl 6)
One of my most used unit overall this unit is just so strong with the enrage and speed and health.

Coastal Sentry (lvl 8)
Star of this week. Can attack from the second position because of Possibilus the Wise it also gains the trample ability. Again with these two extra abilities , reach and trample, it makes an very strong unit.

Merdaali Guardian (lvl 6)
Heal and repair the units in the front.

Angelic Mandarin (lvl 6)
Heal the backline. Important because i chose the taunt unit in the back that still can be attack by ranged and magic units.

Supply Runner (lvl 8)
The extra speed helps the diemonshark so my opponent me miss more in the front..

Wave Brood (lvl 5)
Important unit in the back the need so my opponent will target this unit first before it can kill the strong coastal sentry

Rounds

Start :

Lets analyze the the battle line up. Expected some magic units so the wave brood is a fine option in the back an see if it can be healed enough to stay alive. If it can be healed and protect my coastal sentry then my front units will take care of the the rest.

Round 1:

image.png
Some misses on my side an retaliate of the Forgotten One. Still the line up is strong do not forget about the trample of Possibilus the Wise this will hurt next round for my opponent.
Wave brood has enough health to go along with next round.

Round 2:

image.png
Really!! My ranged unit with one damage killing my opponent which does not trigger the tample. Still looking strong and coastal sentry is doing some nice damage.

Round 3:

image.png
Nice trample this round here you see the real power of coastal sentry dealing 12 damage in one round and not able to stopped or nerfed by force field with 4 damage per attack.

Round 4:

We end the battle with a nice trample of the diemonshark. Victory!

Conclusion

Love the coastal sentry unit it has some nice battles. Some of the soulbound are really powerful and not overpowered in my opinion they all have certain niche situation where they shine.
