srcI've been posting various individuals from my family tree for a while now. I've had this vague sort of intention to build a family tree on Hive. The most ambitious idea would be to create something like WikiTree or FamilySearch or various other sites that try to create a universal family tree.
Given the sort of centralized control that would require, that seems a bit out of character for Hive and also require a lot more effort than just I could provide. So taking it down a notch, I'm going to attempt to do something like that (in the long run) for just my own family tree. There's more than 90,000 individuals in it so that alone is more than I'll probably get done in a lifetime anyway. And of course, if anybody else wants to add on to it, they easily can. All you have to do is create your own people pages and link them to any that I (or anyone else) has created as applicable then leave a comment on the individual you are linking to to link back. Whoever owns that person page can update the content with the link as they see fit but at the very least it will be in a comment if you add it.
Currently, since I tend to pick individuals at random to post about, all of the individuals I've posted so far are isolated and only linked back to a report web site generated with the genealogy software I use. However, whenever I happen to post an individual that is the child, spouse/mate, or parent of an individual I've already added, I'll modify the appropriate links to point to the hive version, eventually creating something more internal to Hive.
Mostly, that just leaves sources. Currently, those also just point back to a report web page generated with the genealogy software I use. I could possibly add those sources on hive as either comments or posts (to more easily be linked by multiple individuals). However, since you can't really attach images or documents that live on hive anyway, this may be of limited use. Something to think more about.
To facilitate The Hive Family Tree, I have created an index of all the the people I have added so far that I will try to keep updated. If you create any genealogy pages for an individual, feel free to add a comment to have them added here. I'll split this up into multiple index pages later as needed.
