This week isn't just any week—it's the week when, God willing, I'll be running a 5-kilometer race on Sunday, so I've been training to be in the best shape possible for that day.
So far, I've gone for a jog twice—on Tuesday and Friday—and both times I ran 5 kilometers. I felt good during both runs, despite the hot weather in Maturín.
Here are some photos of the route I took these past few days. The pace was easy both times, though I still felt like I’d put in a lot of physical effort. I attribute this to the lack of physical activity I’ve had over the past few weeks. But I’m back on track and ready to keep racking up kilometers for myself and the entire Hiverun team.
I feel ready for tomorrow. There are two friends who, although they don’t train regularly, signed up for this race because it’s a charity event. This way, they can enjoy the experience of running with lots of people around them, and maybe that will encourage them to run more often.
The priority tomorrow will be to keep moving throughout the entire course, which I don’t think will be difficult because the race is 5 kilometers long, and besides, running in large groups always adds an extra boost of motivation to the race.
