Hi bloggers and food lovers, I hope you’re having a great day. Today I’m going to share one of my family’s favorite Nusantara food or our local dishes, it’s spicy, has a slightly tender texture, and smells absolutely mouthwatering. Today’s main dish is spicy shredded mackerel tuna. Alright, let’s get right to it
Ingredients:
4 mackerel tuna
200 grams red chili peppers
100 grams bird’s eye chili peppers
10 shallots
4 garlic
2 candlenuts
1 stalk lemongrass
2 kaffir lime leaves
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
cooking oil
lime
Chopped scallions
Instructions:
Clean the mackerel tuna by removing the gills, then rub with salt to reduce slime and rinse thoroughly
Place the cleaned skipjack tuna into a steamer
Steam the mackerel tuna until cooked through for 15 minutes
Turn off the heat and let cool
Once cooled, separate the meat from the bones, then shred the mackerel meat
Next, prepare the red chili peppers, bird’s eye chili peppers, candlenuts, shallots, and garlic
Place them in a food processor
Process until the chili peppers and shallots are crushed but not too fine
Heat cooking oil in a pan
Once hot, add the chili mixture to the pan
Stir briefly
Add the fried lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves to the pan
Stir until the chilies are cooked and fragrant
Once they start to cook, add the shredded mackerel to the pan
Stir until evenly mixed, then add salt and sugar to taste
Add chopped scallions
Stir again, then turn off the heat
